United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi Jon
Welcome- Which model did you test drive?
Your concerns on reliability, after 4years and all the money spent and the early problems withe freelander1 they know they have to get it right with this one. I have owned 3 freelanders1 and been delighted with them hence ordering a SE in Stornaway grey, collecting this Wednesday.
They also come with 3 years warranty. I agree with you the honda looks are dissapponting. What ever you decide best wishes for 2007

The 2.2 diesel HS. It was a great drive!

I think I will order one. Always liked the look of the old one, but as I need a car for work every day, reliability is key.

England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Galway Green

Hi All

I test drove a Black HSE TD-4 just before Christmas and placed an order for a Stornaway Grey XS with Alpaca jnterior last week.

The new vehicle is being delivered from the Factory next week and I am due to pick it up on Friday or Saturday!

It should be a vast improvement on the RAV 4 I have driven for the last three years (fingers crossed!).

Welcome to the board John Boy.

I think the Freelander2 will be light years ahead of the Rav4.

By the way, your not a hairdresser are you? Wink

The French car mag "4x4 Tout Terrain" did a review and comparison of FL2 and the latest RAV4.

Rav 4 2.2 Diesel 170 HP vs FL 2 2.2 Diesel 160 HP

First the RAV 4
+ better motor ecologically and economically
+ technological inventions
+ very good proven concept with very little quirks
+ good price
+ modern dashboard
- car has no "character" it just looks like any Japanese car
- noisy motor
- no real OFF road capabilities

Now the FL2
+ a car with character, well it's a Land Rover Smile
+ good OFF road capabilities for a SUV
+ good ON road capabilities
- interior much like any other LR (except Defender)
- prices way too high

The FL2 is much like a RAV4 with better OFF road capabilities but it's price puts it on par with the BMW X3.

The mag concludes that the FL2 is a great car, But they doubt it will gain back it's supremacy on the market where the RAV4 is the number one selling car in France since 4 years. Before it was the FL1.
OTOH the RAV is the only 4x4 which is selling more and more in France. All other makes do decline the last 6 months.
As for Nov 2006 this decline was 8% but the RAV4 sold 9% more than the month before.

downsizing ? feels just as big on the road!!!

just finished my 1st day with the Freelander2 ( the 4 the Landrover in row from Taggarts in Motherwell after a 15 year break from 90's & S2's)
& i'm happy to report that it works !
traded in my 54 disco tdv6 s after 2 years & 2 months of very happy bombing around
but am more than pleased with my decision to buy the freelander,
everything's good !
stereo is brilliant, seats are much better than the disco, sat nav looks really good, & the headlights ( although not xenons) are pretty good but did i mention the hifi?
only wish i'd found the disco 3's site earlier than last week, could've explained a lot of trips to the garage for tweaks,
I look forward to learning a lot from all of you,
& here's to a lifetime of watertight seals on sunroofs !...............kidding !
best wishes
Graeme

Switzerland

Hi All,

and thank you Martin for running this site.

I am from Switzerland and was just about ready to order a RAV4 last autumn. When I saw pictures of the Freelander 2, I decided to wait and from what I am reading on this forum, seems it wasn't a bad idea. Wink

Hoping to be able to testdrive one soon. According to the (very snotty) dealer in my area, he should get the first few in march. (They haven't even gotten a decent brochure yet). If all goes well and my wife and I can agree on colour we should be able to order in march and take delivery in early summer.

Alex

Hello everyone,

I'm Susannah from Virginia (USA) ...we have two Land Rovers and are very active in our club (Rover Owners Association of Virginia) and rallye events. I'm interested in the FL2 (or LR2 here) for a daily driver to save the miles on my aging Disco....haven't seen anything but pictures here yet, so I'm enjoying keeping up with this board!

Australia 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

Hi All,
Thanks Martin for the Freelander 2 site - great. I'm from Canberra Australia.

I was hooked when I saw the first pictures of the Freelander 2 and by the early reviews from UK.

It won't be released here until July 2007. I have registered with Land Rover Australia and intend to order one as soon as the pricing and model range available here is released.

looking forward to it. In the mean time I'll read with interest what's listed in the Forum.

Regards,

Paul
