Hi everyone. After several years wanting a F2, and previously owning three F1's and a D2, we've finally taken the plunge and collect our first F2 next week. A 2010 TD4-e GS Manual.

I'm under strict orders from the boss, that I will NOT be taking this on ANY greenlanes, and it'll be used only as the main family car and caravan towcar. Obviously, when she said 'NOT', she really meant 'NOT for a short while'.... Wink

Normally when a woman says "no", she really means YES Thumbs Up ______________________

Wow - that was quick! pcheaven thanks for the info. I see what you mean about seat wear. Will check out the tailgate brake light. It's an auto, so I suppose the clutch noise wouldn't. No Unusual noises from the rear axle. There was a slightly weird dipping sensation on the rear left side on a short testdrive. I noticed it twice on the same drive - almost like finding a dip in the road surface - only I could not seem to see one in the mirror. Maybe its the soft springs that i'm not used to?

Thanks again

No problem,

Also have a good look underneath for off Roading damage, especially on sump guard and fuel tank, and check around springs for debris or damage.
Also they are known for rear brake issues - specifically worn discs/shoes and seizing brake levers in the drums, check hand brake operation, if the discs have a lip on the edge then it's odds on they wil need replacing along with the rear shoes. Can be a DIY job, expensive in a dealer. Ebay is your friend here for parts. Front discs easier and cheaper to replace.

Think that covers it, though am sure other members will think of more things to check.

South Africa 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Indus Silver

Hi all.

New member from SA. Previously owned a FL1 and in all honesty was very unhappy with the reliability and LR support in those days. Owned a Hilux for the las 10 years and have decided that LR and the Freelander are now completely different animals to what I knew in those years. Took delivery of my SE yesterday - what an awesome vehicle to drive! Thumbs Up

Hi

Hi All,
Just thought I would say hello after returning to the fold following an unfortunate brief excursion away with a Mercedes-Benz, previous car was an 03 Freelander Td4 and I didn't realise how good it was until it was gone. Sad

I've now replaced the Merc with a 10 plate Freelander 2 XS 20,000 miles, hopefully she will give me as good service as my old Td4. Very Happy

Walenut

(Steve)

Hello Folks

And another one joins the site. Very impressed with our 59 plate 10MY XS FL2 so far. Site looks brilliant for spotting snakes and ladders and a number of interesting characters!

For everyone else, Hello!, If you are ever in the south of sweden, need a toolbox, access to a lift, a place to sleep, or just a place to drop off some black pudding and decent tea bags, do not hesitate to send a message!

2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Zermatt Silver
new purchase

Hello

Just bought a 2009 Td4e XS - I've never gone near 4x4's and have owned a succession of TT's and now on a A5 Cab. However, moved to a farmhouse and needed something more robust and able to cope with Icy winter roads. Picked up this car from Hadley Green dealership and I have to say I am so pleasantly surprised.

Was expecting practicality but no real driving pleasure. The opposite is true. very different from the Audi but I can see why these cars are so widely owned. Just a good place to be.

This forum was very helpful for my pre-purchase research so thanks to everyone who posts - a great help.
