Not bad compared to BMW who wanted £800 to fit a diff pinion oil seal, got a seal for £2 so it only cost £798 in the end! |

Try your local tow bar company, they are always cheaper than garages and they come come to you to fit it. |

With the Witter Detachable Towbar R41Q, you do not need to cut the rear bumper. |

Going through the same thing in the U.S. right now. Summer is upon us and I want to be able to tow my 19-foot boat. Stealership wants in upwards of $1,300 US for tow hitch install. I found an indy mechanic in New Jersey (a U.S. Land Rover hot bed) who will help me through my aftermarket install for $300 or so. There is NO need to get your rear bumper cut! I fitted a Witter removable flange type towbar and electrics from PF Jones this morning. Took about 4 hours. The instructions tell you to drill two holes after removing the LH bumper reflector to give access to the 2 13mm nuts behind it. In fact I found a ratchet ring spanner with articulated end (from Aldi) did the job without any drilling - just took time as you could only move the ratchet a few degrees at a time when reaching up behind the bumper. Fitting the electrics was a doddle - no trim had to be moved.
