Heated Windscreens and French Electronic road toll tags

I have a 2010 Freelander with a heated front screen - will this affect the operation of the French toll road tags. Some other forums suggest it may - the dark patches next to the rear view mirror are the recommended areas to place the tags but on my car, the heater wires still appear to be visible.

I use a sanef Liber-t tag on the heated screen of my 2011 GS. As recommended I stuck it on the dark section close to the rear view mirror. No problems.

Thanks TreknTrail, I have ordered a tag now and will give it a try on the way to Lugano next month.

I looked at this because I go to France regularly. However, although I found the tag would work with a heated screen, there is no discount on tolls and you have to pay a monthly fee for having the tag. French motorways are just not crowded like ours and I have never had a long wait at toll booths so I binned the whole idea. John

I use the EZ-Pass here in the eastern US. I placed it right behind the mirror where I cannot see it. It works perfectly. I'm not sure if it is like the European tags, but I see no issues with transmitter interference.
I work with electronics, and if there is some issues it might be with the SAT equipment in the suv, and not the windscreen. RC Gorst

yes JST I can understand your reason for not using the liber-t tag

there is no cost saving and time wise there is only a 30sec to 1 min advantage

the reason why I use it is because I'm usually on my own driving to and from the alps. I didn't want to have to exit the car and walk around to the card reader at every toll station Wink
