That's so he can frighten the Westminster Wassuks out of his way - no one respects FFRR's in downtown Soho anymore.

Looking forward to it, but I won't be trying any inter-stellar trips for sure Wink

Oh and every time you park it, take all 4 wheels off and take them with you, weld it to a lamp post, wrap it in razor wire, and fill it with hydrochloric acid, doing all of the above will give you a 50/50 chance of it not being nicked when you get back to it. I will not take one as a courtesy car, as we have to add it to our own insurance. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Blimey MartynB - things that bad in Blighty now. In my day the organic vapours (as CG described) were enough to put off any miscreants, either that or the dog and he was soft as lard Rolling Eyes

i've lost 2 Defender 90s. Their mechano like simplicity and high costs make them ideal for theft to order, I was speaking to a policeman on Sunday ( someone had abandoned a truck on the bridleway behind our house) and he concurred that in Calderdale in particular and most parts of the rural north around here, Defender theft is seriously organised crime*. My wife said nothing could replace the County 90, but to be fair the Freelander 2 has done everything better that we needed it to do. She misses the " individuality, I don't miss the heater, the wipers, the water ingress, the lights, ad infinitum Laughing

* if you do own one fit a key operated one way hydraulic valve on the clutch or brake circuit, that way if someone does try to steal it the first dab of the brakes/clutch and they are stuck, probably the best £300 you could spend, I found out about them after the event Big Cry 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I had my then pride & joy an "L" reg Defender 300 tdi CSW in epsom green taken from my
mothers driveway. The police think I'd been followed by the gypo's. The Defender was stolen
in seconds and was never seen again....

The Defender that replaced that was a "Y" reg TD5, that was never stolen but it did not stop
them from giving it ago...at home, in Sainsburys car park, in a car park in Grassington. The
best was in B&Q cark park, the tw*t was getting in the vehicle through the sun roof when I saw
him, half his body on the roof the other half hanging in the car. Lucky for me police on site at B&Q
dealing with a shoplifter, he was caught but got of with a police warning....what can you say...

Like MartynB, I love Defenders but to easy to steal...

It's tomorrow! The dealer have confirmed that it's mine "though they've got to do some work on it for the MOT!!" Not quite what I was expecting BUT, looking on the bright side, not only is it a Defender, but it's an OLD Defender so it's going to be the full-on experience!

And I've got it for the evening to take the family out in too....

This is going to be a culture shock! Laughing

I have a 16 year old TDi300 CHT with windows, just runs and runs. Has 79000 miles on it was re-chassised 4 years ago and gets an annual service regardless of the few miles it has done (although even a non mechanic like me could probably do most of the service!) I brought it as a sump guard for a Freelander1 and have enjoyed every mile I've driven it , both on and off road and don't bother about getting dents and scratches as they make it look like it gets used properly! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

Sad tale, I'm sorry to say Sad

I got there and they had initially forgotten; they then said something along the lines that they were reserved "for farmers" and obviously thought I was worried about a bit of mud and collie hair Rolling Eyes I said that that was absolutely fine and then they showed me the motor - a 90 pick up with 2 seats.

Pretty cool in itself, but I had to have three seats Sad

Oh well, it's another Freelander - SD rather than TD and an auto for a change.

Still, they're letting me have a new D4 for the weekend, so all is forgiven Thumbs Up

Such a let down Sad

But I think that having my daughter travelling on the load bed of the 2 seater might bring up certain child protection issues Rolling Eyes
