Oh and every time you park it, take all 4 wheels off and take them with you, weld it to a lamp post, wrap it in razor wire, and fill it with hydrochloric acid, doing all of the above will give you a 50/50 chance of it not being nicked when you get back to it. I will not take one as a courtesy car, as we have to add it to our own insurance. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Blimey MartynB - things that bad in Blighty now. In my day the organic vapours (as CG described) were enough to put off any miscreants, either that or the dog and he was soft as lard |

i've lost 2 Defender 90s. Their mechano like simplicity and high costs make them ideal for theft to order, I was speaking to a policeman on Sunday ( someone had abandoned a truck on the bridleway behind our house) and he concurred that in Calderdale in particular and most parts of the rural north around here, Defender theft is seriously organised crime*. My wife said nothing could replace the County 90, but to be fair the Freelander 2 has done everything better that we needed it to do. She misses the " individuality, I don't miss the heater, the wipers, the water ingress, the lights, ad infinitum

It's tomorrow! The dealer have confirmed that it's mine "though they've got to do some work on it for the MOT!!" Not quite what I was expecting BUT, looking on the bright side, not only is it a Defender, but it's an OLD Defender so it's going to be the full-on experience!

I have a 16 year old TDi300 CHT with windows, just runs and runs. Has 79000 miles on it was re-chassised 4 years ago and gets an annual service regardless of the few miles it has done (although even a non mechanic like me could probably do most of the service!) I brought it as a sump guard for a Freelander1 and have enjoyed every mile I've driven it , both on and off road and don't bother about getting dents and scratches as they make it look like it gets used properly! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
