Biking & accidents are nearly a certainty and its only a matter of time before you get some form of injury IMHO - the main question is how hard are you going to hit something when the Censored in the Focus turns right when indicating left. Twisted Evil

I still miss my bikes but I'm pushing 60 now and my body was protesting every time I swung my leg over (the bike Rolling Eyes ) Back & knee injuries dictated that I choose the four wheel option, so I designed & built my own '4 wheeled motorbike' in the form of a 725kg, 235bhp monster. Bike performance on 4 wheels ..... sorted Very Happy Cheers,
Raz

Thanks Guy's, Bow down Live your life by the forum lmao! Idea I think the courses would be a good idea, maybe I can learn more and then decided. I have thought about off road biking but surely that's more dangerous lol..

Go to the Stafford show in April & buy something from the 80's that needs restoring. That'll keep you out of trouble for a while & may develop into a garage full of bikes you don't want to get dirty. Rolling Eyes I have a road bike but never seem to get round to using it. This year will be different, promise. Smile Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

I biked from 1976-2003. in 2003 I met a lorry in the middle of the road as I was cranked over going round a bend ! brushed the lorry and ripped some leather. 5 mins later had an old Ford P100 pull straight out of a builders yard ! never saw me even with lights on & I was doing under 30 still shaken from the brush with the lorry. I stopped 1ft short & sideways. Rode home & never rode again !
Too vulnerable on a bike ! doesn't matter how good a rider you are.
Miss it like hell but hey I'm still here. I lost 9 of my biker friends over the years all to bike accidents so says it all really.

Get another bike & take advanced lessons. Some Police forces will take you out on an assessment ride free of charge. Feels a little weired looking in your mirrors & seeing a Police bike stuck to your tail, though.
I took my advanced bike course when I was 18, then again some years later as a refresher. I seem to recall being told that everything that happens on a motorbike is your fault. If you planned your position better, looked further ahead, anticipated others actions better, rode at an appropriate speed for road & traffic conditions and your visibility then you should avoid an incident. Sort of makes sense, except when some completely random act happens, then it's not much use when you are laid out on the road.
Always ride defensively within your own limits (not the bikes, it'll be far better than you will ever be).
Ride like you want to see your family again too.

Go on, you know you want to...... Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

My mate hit a car nearly head on, his bike landed on the empty passenger seat of the car, he landed in a hedge which cushioned the impact, nobody was seriously injured. leather and body armour possibly made the difference for him, as for the car driver sheer luck saved him.

He now drives a car, all be it a small one with a racing bike engine. At work
