Dashboard mat

I have a 2011 Freelander 2 and though I do love it I find that there is a shortage of storage for various gadgets.

I bought a dashboard mat on eBay that was advertised to adhere to the dash on which I could stick my phone.

It wont stay on.

I bought an adhesive disc from TomTom to mount the Sat Nav.......it wont stick either.

Does anyone know of a product that WILL stick to this cars dash ?

I had thought of super glueing the disc onto the dash but......it's a little extreme. David Hutchinson

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Baltic Blue

No idea about a mat sorry, I used to use a Brodit Proclip with holders for the phone and TomTom and swapped them over as nesassery, not as cheap as a mat but a good solution never the less. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

English by birth..... Yorkshire by the grace of God.

Use 3M double sided sticky tape, its paper thin and can be removed when necessary with adhesive remover.

Whatever you use on the car dash make sure its going to come off cleanly if you want to sell the car, the garage will knock quite a bit of the price for what they will say is a damaged dashboard, been there done that!!

Thank you for the replies ....I'm not keen on brackets or clips but the double sided tape idea sounds very good.

It's one of those answers that make me want to slap my own head for not thinking of it myself.

Right !

I'm off to B and Q. David Hutchinson

I found a really cheap suction pad in Maplin - designed for the iphone but I just used the base and attached my sat nav to it . It sticks really well and I think the dash would break before the suction cup did! Cheers,

No.....the double sided Scotch tape didn't work either.

Absolutely NOTHING will stick to this Freelander dashboard !

I think I'm going to go with superglue...... David Hutchinson

Have you tried cleaning the dash with an adhesive remover / solvent. It sounds as though yours may have be polished with some sort of silicone if nothing will stick.

Yes I cleaned it all with white spirit but NOTHING will bloody stick.

I bet you're all sick of my whingeing.........lol

Tomorrow morning I'm supergluing the 3 inch diameter TomTom mounting disc to the dash and that's that !!

Thank for all your suggestions fellas......in two years time I'll probably be back bellyaching that the dealer has knocked £500 off the trade-in value because of "dashboard abuse" David Hutchinson

Nooooooooo don't do it! Shocked
Well at least not before you try one of these
I have one on my dash and wonder just how things manage to stay stuck to it. I can rest my sunglasses in any position on this mat and they have never yet slid off. Feels tacky to the touch yet leaves no residue and can be washed in soapy water to rejuvenate it if it gets dusty and stops being sticky.
Comes in a few different colours including 'clear' which I have. Called a JML Grab Mat and if you shop around on the web you'll probably find them cheaper than advertised here. Thumbs Up
