Installed a xenon hid kit today

Ok, so I've been looking into this for a while as I couldn't get my hands on a set of genuine xenon headlamps. Went down to a local company today and purchased a set a h7 xenon headlight bulbs, asked them about the MOT side of things and dazzling other drivers (which is a pet hate of mine). And basically just installed them and they are amazing! Basically the pattern of light is great in my opinion. Apparently if you have a clear glass lens its fine and I've been checking all evening to see if it dazzles other drivers and it doesn't Very Happy so happy I'll get some pictures up to show you all.. Very Happy

It's an MOT fail if they don't self level, along with invalidated insurance.

Darn good though Thumbs Up

I think I must of missed something here Chris. Putting "Xenon" bulbs in does not convert the headlights to HID and does not require self levelling gear. Or have you got an after market HID kit? John

It can still be leveled with the headlight and has washer jets for headlamps so unless someone is been really mean i cant see the problem. It doesn't dazzle anyone else as i've checked from all angles Very Happy

The ruling on self levelling and headlamp washing system does not kick in until May this year.

I have just arrived out full Xenon conversion onmy Astra Convertible. This included buying complete new Xenon headlights with the correct projector lense.

Headlamp washing system has been installed and I am sorting out the self levelling as we speak.

From April 1st 2012, if you have an HID kit fitted with normal clear lense headlights, it will be an instant fail. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The self levelling issue might be solvable with a bit of electrickery - maybe a sensor of some sort on the front suspension linked to the existing levelling switch? A bit beyond my limited knowledge but it certainly sounds feasible. Cheers,

It's not self levelling where you'll first come foul of the law...installing an aftermarket HID system, self level or not is illegal already, and will become a test fail in April even if the beam is correct. End of I'm afraid! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
