United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

[quote="big-al-cove"]Shilen, a BABY RANGE ROVER its like shouting i could not afford proper RANGE ROVER Rolling with laughter

i had one on a test drive before i decided on the FR2

good points

looks from the front
interior

bad points
squashed roof makes you think its been rolled
its smaller than a FR2
less towing capacity
seating position
if you go for 3 door it takes for ever for the electric seat to move forward to gain access to the rear
less boot room

to me its not good enough to have the name Range Rover on it but i guess that was done to boost sales

any way that's my 2p worth on the Evoque best of luck on what you i
A freelander is a baby landrover does that mean its for those who can't afford a proper landrover ie a disco , I think both baby's are very nice cars very much enjoying my fl2 but love the brr too

its the same running gear and the same chassis its just been cut to shorten it and wider body panels to widen it as far as i know

i done the same to compare pricing and found out that you are paying more to get less Rolling with laughter

it would have been a good FR2 replacement if they had used the front end and kept the rest of the freelander body and used the evoque interior 1995 P38 now dead

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I have seen the 2013 MY in the metal, the changes are :-

Re-vamped headlights with DRL's. Led on Xenon equipped cars
Re-vamped LED rear lights
New trim around the front grill
Aluminium effect fog light surrounds
Twin exhausts on SD4 models

Although I never saw inside the car, several dash changes are apparently coming.

The RRS has just been face lifted only 18 months after the last change.

SD4 may also be going 200bhp as Ford have done this with Mondeo. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I agree Shilen,

The tint guy I was talking to yesterday was saying that he had seen pics of the new Defenders (he is into those) and he doesnt like the new ones and thinks the present shape will hold it's value due to nobody liking the one that's coming.

I agree with you about the Ewok coupe. I just don't get it. The 5 door Ewok always seems to be photographed from the front and low down to somehow make it look bigger. Strange again, why not just make it bigger? They seem to have squished the windows and made them too narrow and then try to photograph them to hide it?

RRS I love the look of those but they are very expensive.

I've only had my FL2 since October but it will be the reliability side of things mainly that will make me stay with LR or go to another brand. I love my FL2 but if I get the clutch/dmf/diff problems that others have had, i probably wont buy another.

I asked the chap i was talking to yesterday if he thinks that they will just stop producing the FL with all the hype and lurve that's going on for the Ewok. He didnt think that they will stop production but they dont seem to be in a rush to update it for us

The new Defender is coming as the present model has got to be phased out by 2017 but will go by 2015 due to airbags or rather lack of them. LR have gone as far as they can with it.
They are also wanting to exploit the SUV market particually in the U.S/Middle East etc where these will be fashionable.Business is business & why sell 3000 units a year when they can do 30,000? There will be rugged versions for farmers etc.

Evoque Coupe is to draw customers from the likes of Audi TT etc & it has done exactly this. Coupe rear seat buttons are being modified due to slow speed. The design is what it is a Coupe & has plenty of room in the rear. Loadspace on the car is smaller than a FL2 but that is because the car is smaller. What is the point of making a vehicle identical in size to the Freelander?
Evoque 5 Door to draw customers from Audi, BMW etc that want a luxury/sporty compact vehicle - it has suceeded in doing this too by being totally different. The Evoque won't be everyones cup of tea but neither is the FL2 or any car for that matter. I may sound a little biased as my Evoque goes into build in just over 2 weeks time.
The Evoque should be haled as it is bringing in valuable revenue to LR that can be used in R&D for new vehicles, it is keeping up with times & bringing in customers to the brand that would otherwise have bought foreign.

I personally think (sadly) that the FL3 won't come as the Defender will do everything that an FL3 will do plus more! I was told back in November that LR have a new model every year for the next 5 years, the Evoque being the first & there was no mention of a new Freelander.

All new FFRR at the end of 2012.
New RRS end of 2013.
All new Discovery 2014,
All new Defender 2015 (very likely apparently). (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

The Freelander is to be supplied as a knock down kit to India, were it will be assembled and sold into expanding new markets. I can see this leading to a situation were it will be avaialble for a long time to come and for those who "want one", they will get a glitzy version as is being shown with the spy photos.

LR are trying to go up market, hence the Evoque, there is also a Jaguar 4x4 being mulled over.
Personally, I think the Freelander may become either obsolete, as LR want us moving toward the RR badge and into Evoques, the current criticism, of were is the FL3, will be addressed by a 7 seat Grand Evoque. The DC100 and Disco will be the LR badged products, I dont see any room for a product such as Freelander, with the forthcoming portfolio of JLR products, there isn't room for it.

I totally agree with what the Valeter has said, it is a fair view point.

But, Freelander is being replaced 100%, whether it will be called Freelander I don't know but there will be a new one.

Evoque has had to have a completly re-designed rear suspension because of the lower rear roof line which means the rear seats have to be positioned lower than Freelander 2.

Evoque has the same design front suspension set up but more of it is made in alluminium. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
