Also opened up the garmin and took out the speaker and extended the wire.

Decided the garmin speakers arnt great so got a new on from Maplin. This fitted in the speaker grill in the middle of the dash.

I fitted the bottom power module in the garmin which took power from a hard wire in box off eBay.

Also ran the USB lead for updates!

Totally agree with simont, very neat installation; would you have the impedance and dimensions of the speaker from Maplin?
As a minor aside, I found that Tamiya Color for plastics, TS-82, Rubber Black, is an almost direct match for the console surround, closer than matt black. Having said that, you need direct sunlight to notice.
