hello, I want to keep a LR service history. i've tried
Hillendale, they were thourough but expensive and even though i've bought 2 cars from them they don't seem interested in my return business.

Copley .. they were cheaper for servicing costs but there work was shoddy and they left the inside of my car dirty with oily fingerprints, and they botched the paperwork.

Stratstones (bury) Hillendale service guy told me not to use them as he said they use substandard parts.

As Williams is my next closest, does anyone have any comments about them, or could make other recomendations.

i use stratstones bury all the time i purchesed my car from them there service dept is excellent i had an issue with a re occurring problem with the help from them getting on to land rover about it it was resolved as for the idiot at hillendale that said thay use substandard parts is a load of bo ks all land rover dealers use genuine parts and i doubt they would fit spurious ones give them a try for price match most will to secure your buisness as for a dirty car mine gets washed and vacumed out at every visit i usually find that those dealers that slag other dealers off are the ones that have got something to hide or are afraid of the competition hope this helps in some way just a thought if you went far a field and something does go wrong that is service /repair related i would rather take it back locally than a 50 mile roud trip if you get my drift good luck

I’ve just had to deal with Stratstone Bury service department on two occasions in the last couple of weeks and they have been excellent. Well done Barrie and his team.

derryk they also do a collection and drop off service don't know if there is a limit on distance though  rainy-city

Williams Manchester. Had great service from them, everything done on time, very polite and answered all questions with clear sensible answers.
Plus the coffee is not bad either.

a lot of it is just your luck on the day of the service !!

every dealer has at least one idiot mechanic, and if he/she is allocated your car on the day then there are sure to be problems.

could be anything from oily fingerprints, too much oil, damaged alloy, etc

I, too, had issues with Hillendale and have had the last 3 services done at Ribblesdale Land Rover in Settle - proper old fashioned service, and although I live only a couple of miles from Hillendale, close to the end of the M65, a guy from Ribblesdale LR lives just down the road and collects and returns the car. Or even drop it off and spend a while in the Yorkshire Dales - its prettier than Bury! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Approximate Service costs;
60k incl MOT, new wiper blades and a few other bits -£450
75K service only - £310
90K service +MOT incl rear brakes incl handbrake shoes etc -£682
Sorry its not clearer, but it isn`t easy to just extract the service only cost.
They also put a new rear diff on under extended warranty on a near 5 year old car with 100k+ on it.
I ordered my FL2 from Hillendale, after having 4 discos and a defender over the years. With 3 weeks to expected delivery I hadn`t heard about the transfer of a personal plate onto it, so rang them. They couldn`t do the transfer as they didn`t have a car to put it on! It turned out, when I saw the dealer principle, that they didn`t order it, assuming they could pick one up on the dealer network, but couldn`t!! Have since heard of the same thing happening to at least two other people. So I had to scour the dealers for a stock FL2 for "immediate" delivery and ended up buying it from Brock.
When I did have servicing done at Hillendale, I am safe to say that the car was never ready at the time requested, it was almost as though they wanted you to drink all their coffee.
I am getting a new 110XS utility in March and visited Hillendale to gather information and get a price. Despite being in the showroom for 10 -15 minutes looking at vehicles and literature no-one, except the receptionist who simply nodded, could be bothered to get out from behind their desks and talk to us.
If they can`t be bothered, then neither can I and so am buying from Park Royal, who couldn`t have been better. Jeremy has even suggested that he will go into the prep workshop where my 110 is at present, and take some pictures today to send to me.
