Sat in the Travelodge tonight, pretty manky really (the Travelodge, that is) and not the sort of place I want to spend too long in, so it got me thinking.
I regularly stay away maybe a couple of nights a week on average, have a limited budget, Koreans don't value accomodation at all, they will put as many in a room as possible, however, I am fortunate that I can have my own room.

Do others on here have any tips or ideas as for decent places or sites to use, I tend to book pretty last minute and for ease stick to budget chains but i imagine there must be much better out there.

I think my budget is £75 outside London and £100 in London.

A friend who travels the country always try's to stop in B&B's traditional family values cooked breakfast and not the same old Travelodge room wether your stopping in Bristol or Bradford often with a village pub for evening meal/beer

B&b's are good, but I am only ever aloud to stop in premier inns. So I can't complain!

I get to stop at home each night

Not a job that needs to travel, unless it's to see our London based insurance broker, then it's travel by train, meeting, meal wine more wine, shorts and train home, walk across road get into trouble for been drunk again

I try and stay in the Premier Inns iff possible, about a fiver more than a Travelodge, much better rooms and 99% of them you can get a good meal, toeknee will vouch for that. And the Premier Breakfast I'll let others decide.

Premier inns are fine, sometimes though, especially last minute they tend to be full. Usually good inns with them though.

B&B's never really tried, need to know where to look.

Yep Premier Inns for me too. They are running offers at the moment, stay 3 nights within 2 - 3 months and get a free night. So your company pays for your 3 nights and you and the Mrs Taz have a night away
Prices are creaping up though, used to be £50 - £60 now up to £90 depending on area.

Stayed in one once, very strong smell of rubber, just can't imagine what the last guest was doing

My Commiserations I spend on average 3 days a week away from home in every godforsaken place in Europe that you can imagine

Premier Inn in the UK too for me too ( best all round budget hotel) + Holiday Inn Express i(f you do not need the full heart attack breakfast experience at Premier). Bewleys + Jury's Inn are also good bets

I also use Booking.com and Last Minute .com and sometimes can find brilliant bargains even a couple of weeks in advance. Both these are pretty good if you ever need overseas rooms as well. One of the things that Last Minute do if you don't mind exactly where you are is " Secret Hotel" all you know is a price and a location like 4* hotel central Manchester.. if you hit it right , these can be brilliant value and you can get a real luxury place for the prices you mention 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Know what you mean Taz, those places make you feel depressed, even worse if your on your todd.

I've often used laterooms.com to get a more upmarket hotel at a reasonable price Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Premier Inn for me too, not had a bad one yet and always a good breakfast. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.
