Travelodge in Feltham will take anything, no staff to be seen, automated check in etc, the place is a dump.

I am travelling from Devon to Burton on Trent shortly, I've always wanted to visit because of its brewery connections While I'm, " up north " I thought I would vist my ancestral town of Halifax for a couple of nights. Does anyone know of a decent pub or inn that does B&B, not too expensive as I am a Yorkshire Man Perhaps CG would have some ideas, but possibly not his local as I am too old to fight. |

Why is it that all these places sound so nice and make you interested even though you didn't want to go there?

Thanks for all the suggestions especially MartynB. I liked the look of the Shibden Mill Inn but it was full on my dates Have settled on the Wool Merchant Hotel on 19 &20 March, they were willing to negotiate on the price and I got a good deal |

Brilliant, hope you are not disappointed in what Halifax is today, there are a lot of stunning places within 10 minutes drive of the town centre, and fantastic places to eat in the surrounding countryside. Just one tip avoid the Sportsmans Inn ( ski slope) on Bradford old road , it's Chav central carvery land. as previously said the Mill Inn in Shibden Valley( where the nice people live ) is great for lunch , as are the bar meals at the Black Horse in Clifton near Brighouse, both also have fine dining restraunt options, but at the latter on the last time I went I had a black pudding starter, then a home cooked fresh battered haddock Ciabbata sandwich - Yorkshire gastro or what !. The Kashmir on Morley St in Bradford for a proper £7 "dirty" curry experience( don't use the loos there !!), then blast down the 62 to leeds to Brasserie Blanc to blow a Hundred quid to make it up to the Mrs for the Kashmir ! - all bases covered 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
