Probably because the first time you take the car off road the damn things get ripped off, making a right mess of the wing liner if the wheels are spinning backwards. LR warranty were not impressed, did it twice on our FL1 which had them fitted as standard, second time I just left them off. The bill was a lot more than the £10 it might of cost on the production line. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |

I fitted a set of front and rears to my i6 about 4 years ago - the rears were a doddle but the fronts more of a challenge. However, they went on ok eventually and, IMHO, made a difference to the amount of muck thrown up the sills. I agree that they are perhaps overpriced but LR is a premium brand and you have to expect to pay premium prices. As for them being ripped off in the snow, my i6 saw quite a bit of snow, mud, slush etc and the flaps stayed exactly where they should be. I will have no hesitation in fitting a set to my TD4 when I can get around to it. 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles. Thanks Reg. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if it turns out in the end. I lived on my own til i was 35 and got married and so had learned to do things myself rather than pay to get a man in ha.

I need to fit a set myself Annie, last year the caravan front was a complete mess with the muck created. The rears are more important to me but I'll wait until the better weather before scrambling around fitting the fronts. |

I have looked at those Nick, and to be honest it was the only 'good' reason I looked towards mud flaps but as you point out, a cover will keep it as 'new/clean' for the journey. Same price as a set of 'flaps' as well. |

Nooooooo NP, if anything looks sillier than one of the front covers I've yet to see it (wheels excluded) ![]() ![]() Not sure if the front covers are actually legal as they cover the front marker lights . |

The marker light thing is the reason I haven't got one yet, |

Perhaps I'll try 'cling film' next trip out, peel off and bin it. |
