I'm usually quite handy but.............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Has anyone else had problems when fitting the front mudflaps or am i just being a stupid woman?

I've fitted the left one after faffing about removing the body part and drilling the 2 holes and snipping the corner bit off. I'm not confident it's going to stay on though and then i get to the right hand side, i couldnt get the screw to meet up with the bracket when trying to screw the mudflap on and then it starts raining grrrr.

Couldn't see what i was doing in my garage so have given up today. Car looks nice from one side Rolling Eyes

So frustrating Big Cry

I wish i hadnt started the job and just asked a man to do it Embarassed

I think i'll stick to ladies things Rolling with laughter 59 TD4e XS in galway green

Are they the genuine LandRover mudflaps? I fitted some and it took me around 30 minutes to fit the first side, then 15 to fit the second side. I seem to recall it was a bit fiddly to line everything up but are nice and secure once on. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Persevere. Just think how proud you'll be when you've finished fitting them. Very Happy
Or you could talk nicely to your dealers and ask them to fit them for you. Rolling Eyes

It took me longer to fit the first because I was being careful with cutting the trim. Once I had done the first I was a bit more confident with the second one. Plus the instructions made more sense.
Stick with it. Thumbs Up Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Thanks. The instructions aren't very clear to me. I've done the left one and the right one looks simpler (only drilling on that one i think, which i've done) but i think the instructions are really poor and not very clear.

I'll have another go tomorrow Rolling Eyes 59 TD4e XS in galway green

I seem to remember someone saying they were easier if warm, stick the flap in a bucket of hot water for 20 minutes.

You are not a stupid woman, far from it, or if you are I am a stupid man and loads of others to boot. I put the flaps on on Wednesday, the LR instuctions are as clear as mud ! and had me pulling my hair out ( or it would have done if I had any) why they couldn't have used a series of step by step photographs with written instructions is beyond me, the line drawings are terrible, the sequencing rubbish and even their designations of left hand and right hand are confusing ! it took me four times as long to fit the fronts as the rears, surprisingly when the job is finished the fit is very good.

I bet LR sell loads of plastic trim to people who have attempted this job only tp be thwarted by the poor quality instructions and then give up.

Stick with it it will be worth it Thumbs Up 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I've not seen the instructions, but that probably means I already know more about fitting them than someone who has. If the D3 instructions are anything to go by, then the drawings can only be understood by someone who has already done the job at least twice.

What is really silly is that mud flaps are not standard fitments on a vehicle that the makers claim is designed to go off road. The cost of fitting when done to all vehicles on the line would put about £10 on a new vehicle price. Is the real reason they are omitted that it's a wee perk to the Dealers who can charge two hours workshop to any buyer who doesn't take on the challenge like you have. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Thank you chaps for your help and encouragement and it was a relief that it wasn't only me who thinks the instructions are a bit useless. It was the drawings that i couldnt actually see what was going on.

A special thank you to MartynB who took the time to pm me and explain what he had done on Wednesday when he fitted his, step by step. That was a big help.

Thanks too Russben Thumbs Up Ive been in your gallery and like what i see ha ha

I did the job this morning Thumbs Up

I've washed it aswell so i darent bring it out of the garage now in case it gets dirty or the flaps fall off Laughing 59 TD4e XS in galway green
