England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Thanks for the welcome Martin.

My wife Tricia and I went out last week to buy a pair of wellies and came back having ordered a Freelander! Should keep our feet dry..... Whistle

Took delivery two days ago of a 2008 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey - love it already! We used to have Pajeros up to 3 years ago when they got too expensive to run and we swapped for a 530d BMW estate. Having recently moved to Cornwall it made sense to revert to 4x4 for the lanes and beaches! We also tow a caravan so the Freelander will be better at that, hopefully.

I've got two questions to ask - what tyres are recommended and is there any organised green laning in Cornwall?

On the Pajeros I loved General Grabber AT tyres - great mileage, reasonably cheap and good on and off road. The 18" wheels of the Freel2 seem to pose a problem for availability and/or price of all-terrain tyres. I've currently got a set of Goodyears on the car with around 6-8mm left so there's no immediate need to change.

I'm not experienced in green laning but would love to try it out. I've done a one-day off-road course some years ago in the Pajero and have towed caravans on wet grass, gone fishing in unlikely spots and driven in snow.

Any help with either query will be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome Ron Thumbs Up

Tyres, visit site sponsor AJS 4x4 , their details will appear above in the banner area.

Not sure about Cornwall, many members here will have an idea.

Hi I've joined in the hope that someone will be able to help me get my car started as my local dealer certainly has no idea. Having been off the road (not off-road) for a month I AM TEARING MY HAIR OUT.

Take your handbag off the key fob and push it all the way into the dash, the start button will then work Rolling with laughter

I do apologise, couldn't resist

Maybe post something a little more technical, people on here know way more than the dealers Thumbs Up

Has the dealer given you the wrong key? Though I guess it wouldn't open the door if it was the wrong one!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Ha Ha - I have posted a more detailed view of what is wrong so perhaps you can help.
PS you could never get my handbag on the keyfob but at least you made me smile which is more than the dealer does.

Welcome to Freel, my gaffer has had a very similiar problem that has been solved, have mailed him, he's away in Italy at present.
Your problem sounds the same, it took the dealer in his area ages to resolve but is now OK, will let you know and i am sure others on here will too.
Sorry for the little joke earlier, glad you saw the funny side of it Very Happy

Ay up Ron,
Don't know if you've come across Tigger on this forum, but he's not to far from you and a decent fellow; had a pub meal with him a few weeks ago. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Yippee, I'm not the only i6 driver on here though I suspect discussing UK service options might be a little irrelevant.

Maybe we should start a - far more exclusive - forum for non diseasel burners that combine elegance, performance and an empty bank account.

Hello everybody,
I have had my Freel2 for a year now and love it to bits. Its my 11th Land Rover and I still own a Disco 1. I live in the Sleaford area of Lincs and I am keen to use the wagon for what is was built to do. Anybody nearby, I would like to know where you go and how you get on with it. Looking forward to chatting to you all and hearing all the things you have got up to in your Freel2's.
And Happy Xmas Very Happy
Smiler
