United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Baltic Blue

General running round in our i6 we get 22mpg and the best we have got on a really long run was just over 35mpg, all according to the trip computer Surprised

That's not to bad for a petrol FL2, it's better than some diesel autos that have been talk about on this forum.

The 35mpg was driving on very light throttle and did involve long distances. Not completely like your granny as when you pick up speed you could keep going at a steady pace, just needed careful use of the power pedal!
Considering all things it is twice as good as the last V8 monster I had which at best achieved 26mpg on LPG, but for pure grunt the last V8 was much better. Twisted Evil

at first I was getting 38-41MPG but in the last month or so it's rapidly dropped to 35-36. I only really use Tesco fuel as that's the nearest but perhaps the cold weather is playing a factor with it... :s Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual MY11 - 61REG Stratstone Mayfair

Mine is exactly the same, dropped a good 5mpg since the colder weather and darker nights started. Same last year so nothing to worry about. Thumbs Up

First real run - 450 mile round trip - in the i6. Air Con on, mainly M-way with sporadic traffic / occasional jam and a bit of snow and managed a whole 24.8 mpg (based on a click to click refil, the OBC had it down at 24.2). Glad I didn't buy it for the fuel economy!

Mine has also dropped and we find the vehicles at work drop by 3 to 4 mpg during the winter, we have ruled out the less mpg due to the length of time to get up to running temperature as the mpg still does not improve if we get them up to temperature and then reset the on board computer, I have thought it may be down to the winter additives Question

On our i6, the 35mpg as shown on the OBC was when we did a trip from Bucks up the west coast of scotland, when you hit the top turned right and came back down the middle. So initially it was a lot of motorway and the weather was warm so AC was used and we left early in the morning so lights were on. It was over the space of a week and we did around 1800miles or so during the trip. Lots of it was on unclassified and B roads, never really racing along 40 to 50 on the roads we could do that, 60 to 70 on the motorways.
Have checked the MPG based on a fill up and overall the OBC seems quite close to the figure so never bothered checking again. Do find that the OBC gives more acurrate reading if you reset it when starting a long trip. Based on vehicles I have run for business before mid twenties to thirty mpg is the norm so do not expect any better.
It was always my plan to run it on LPG, but as yet the cost of running it has not justified this initial out lay as it is cheaper to run than the Land Cruiser 4.7 V8 on LPG it replaced! Also based on some of the clowns out there fitting LPG did not want them to balls up my car as experienced with some of them previously on the cars and vans we have run on LPG.
Does anyone have any experience of the i6 on LPG?

2011 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

Had to do a airport run on Sunday night - SD4 with 6k miles on the clock. Outside temperature was hovering between -1 and 1c. 60 miles on m25 with very little traffic, and I reset the obc as I joined the motorway.

On the way there, I drove under speed limit with very light acceleration and got 45mpg.

On the way back, it dropped to a still respectable 38mpg Whistle

I use mine for the daily commute to work, approx 7 miles each way of 30mph zones and traffic lights, some light motorway use cruising at 70(ish), I average between 20-23mpg, gotta be honest its lower than i expected, I would have thought 28mpg would have been fairer for mixed use, going up to early/mid 30's for more motorway use.

Does it sound like I have something that needs to be looked into or is about right for the TD4 Auto on a 57 plate, been thinkinh about a remap but £600 buys alot of fuel (comparatively speaking) 2007 '57' Freelander 2 XS Sumatra Black TD4 Automatic - Standard (for now!)

Our i6 is still doing okay on the MPG, just been to Dorset and back with running around whilst there, covered 460miles roughly. The OBC was showing 26 to 30mpg so really pleased with that.

Had my FL2 2010 GS for 2 months now and had my time towing my Caravan over New Year and i got 26 mpg, mainly A roads but i was very happy with that on a 100 mile trip Thumbs Up 2010 GS Stornoway Grey

with the autobox 23mpg when she uses it for the shopping runs, 29/30 when driven with a bit of spirit on A roads and enough distance to get it warmed up , 35 is the best I've ever done,but that is " Driving Miss Daisy" but to be fair the car only does about 300 miles a month so it's not a problem, 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Greece 2008 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

In heavy traffic my i6 can go up to 400km before the low fuel warning light comes on. For easy motorway driving can go up to 620km which is very very good. Driving in Germany with 180-200Km/h you get the heavy traffic consumption.

About the LPG conversion, there are a few cases in Greece that after the conversion the injector nozzles got melted. That because the i6 is a direct injection engine.
LR does not ‘approve’ the conversion as far as I know for the FL2 petrol model.

MPG - suprised

Just done Bridgewater M5 to home (280 miles?) in cruise control at 65 mph and returned an MPG of 46.8 - very pleased and suprised. Been a while since I did a long trip and I was amazed at how little traffic on the M'ways since I was a regular traveller 4 years ago. Tony
