Attended a half day off road driving experience at Honiton today courtesy of Landrover Military Sales. Awesome venue, very picturesque setting and some challenging tracks to negotiate. The Freelander 2 performed awesomely well and is a very capable vehicle off road.

I was impressed with the Terrain Response settings and HDC and now have a much better understanding of their uses and capabilities. The Instructor (Adrian) was very informative and relaxed and the whole experience was spot on. We also drove the Evoque - mmm, it's a 'marmite' car personally i think.

If you are new to Landrover or thinking of buying one i would thoroughly recommend attending a Landrover Experience Day.

I would fully endorse your recommendation about attending a Land Rover Experience Day. Doing so will give you a much better understanding of the capabilities of your vehicle.

I too have another voucher to use so I might try another destination and drive the RR Sport or Disco - why, because I can lol.

I really am not sure about the Evoque, it looks nice in the right colour, the interior is good although some parts of the trim feel cheap in certain areas, but for me it doesn't have the wow factor - certainly nowhere near as good as the over the top comments in the motoring press. Maybe it will grow on me lol.

I have done a few, FL2x2 D3x1, RRS x1 D4x1 and I had booked a FFRR but cancelled it due to an operation my mother was having, I was told there was no time limit to rebook, but might try the Evoque if I can swap cars

I now go to Coniston Hall and shoot a few clays and make a day of it, great days out  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I got one with my XS- hope to use in Dec, but would very much like to try a RRS

Also did the Honiton course. As a newcomer to FL2 (but not to Landrover) was very impressed with what it would let me do. Had Steve as tutor - very good indeed - a really nice setup with great scenery and some good driving terrain. Particularly liked the 'keep your feet off the pedals' bits as it gave me the opportunity to see what the vehicle could do using its own brain. Decided it was superior to my own (brain that is). Only trouble is, training was on an automatic and my FL is manual. Still, it has convinced me that the next one will be an auto - and a SD4. A great day - and thanks to all.

They are not all the same. Have a look around on this forum. I was very disappointed at Luton recently. Also the instructor admitted that the freebie I got on Facebook was much less hands on than the paid-for option. It really was a bit of a sales pitch.
Regarding auto vs manual, I was surprised on the recent offroad outing in North Wales to see how well my manual did. I was expecting the autos to do much better but apart from a couple of stalls on the steep upward bits (just bad driving on my part, and no problem restarting) I was entirely happy with my manual. It did everything the autos did, and sometimes better!

Must get round to using my voucher from Matford, Exeter, but will have to wait until at least mid-December. Hope we have some snow then & the centre will still be open ... looking to see what the Avon Ranger Ice tires can do in the snow!

You normally do it in their cars, which have normal road tyres. Unless you've booked to take your own vehicle round?

I'm going to Coniston on the 30th with the voucher we got with the car, me, wife, grandson , I'm also going to make a day of it and chuck the guns in the boot , I don't know if Coniston shoots on Wednesdays, but if not we will head back home via Kelbrooke Lodge which definitely does 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

My first LR experience was at Milton keynes, in a freelander 2 and was fantastic, so good I bought one. I recently
had one at the new Luton experience, in a Disco 4. I have to say if you have a choice go somewhere else. I would rate the couse similar to the ones they set up at dealerships for the day.
