Another rattle solved!

Hi all,

I have had a rattle driving me nuts for the last 6 months or so! It was coming from the glove box area so obviously I started looking round that way! To cut a VERY long story short we had to think outside the box. Turned out one a small bolt behind the passenger indicator loom was very lose! Tightened it up and vola!

Anyone got any idea what its for ? Thumbs Up

Looking at this recently posted pic it looks like it may hold the intake pipe in place?

yeah just take out the indicator and you should see the bolt !

I used a box spanner as I didn't want to drop anything inside!

Hi, this sounds like the possible noise I am hearing on my car. When you say rattle is it more of a knocking sound or a buzzing vibration? Mine makes a knocking sound when going over certain road cambers and bumps. Doesn't happen all of the time but sounds almost like a loose bolt rolling back and forth in a small gap behind the glove box. Have had the glovebox out but no joy. Any ideas what this may be, or could it be the same issue?
Cheers in advance for any help! Thumbs Up

Yep, checked it and that bolt was loose. Hopefully cured that rattle but not been far enough to be sure yet.

On tightening felt like either thread was badly cut and about to strip, or may have been into plastic. Consequently I think this will be common and may re-occur.

Thanks stownrow for the tip. I had rattled the grill a few times in the past thinking it may be that.

Had this rattle driving me mad for the last 6 months as well - Just run out in the rain with a torch and guess what - 1 very loose bolt - tightened up (also thought the thread felt iffy like it may strip so didn't overdo it) - just been for a quick spin and it's perfect. Thanks Stownrow

Glad I could be of help! Very Happy

Mine started like a small rattle an progressed to a 'buzzing' sound intermittently.

Cheers.

Very interesting! Mine only last week started to have a buzzing type sound from what sounded like the left side of the dash. It was when you coast down to a standstill. So will try this solution! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
