United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Rimini Red

I would tend to think the technician does not know what he is talking about..... several 57 models here with the am module fault, why not yours? Good luck, JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

It was taken to stratstone Doncaster where we bought it from, only reason was had it in there before for same problem and they did say something was coming out about recall but not till next week (this was last month) and they offered half price MOT, as I was still in my years approved warranty with them I thought why not don't want the same problems I had with them when I took my D3 to Indi garage for MOT and it failed then tried to claim on LR warranty but they said no because MOT not done by them worked out in end though.

But looking to find good LR garage around here not 25-30 miles away.

Do you think I should take it into another one and get them to look at it

Does anyone know the part number for the radio module that needs to be replaces and/or how much it is?

I didn't get the part number but was told they are around $800 (~£530) but was told that they can be repaired by a local shop in Perth which would cost ~$100 (£65) to repair.

Any idea what the repair consists of?

Bit of a long way to post it out to you and back!

No idea mate. They just said they take it to a local repair shop.
You could get it repaired here and incorporate a holiday at the same time I guess! Wink

I had this issue a few months back and the resolution was to replace the stereo. Under warranty. AM works now. Cuatro Por Cuatro

SSM42186v2 – Loss Of Sound on AM
Last modified 18-Nov-2010 00:00:00
Content Issue: Radio looses Sound on AM Radio Band or fades away
Cause: Internal Issue within the IAM (Integrated Audio Module)
Action: Test radio functionality to ensure all other functions operate as intended,
• If FM is OK
• CD Operation is OK
• AM - No sound
Replace IAM:

excuse my igronace but can you tell what this is from? is it a LR dealer checklist of some kind that they should be going through if this problem presents?

I only ask as i have the same issue and if i go to the dealer with it and they fob me off i'd like to show them this, but only if i understand what it is myself.

A SSM (Special Service Message) is a note issued to dealers from LR, stating that it knows of a problem and has an interim solution. It may, or may not, be progressed later to a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin).
