FL2 Front Parking Sensors

Her Ladyship's MY 2010 does not have front parking sensors fitted (it has the rear PDC.) Soon a MY2011 facelift front bumper will be fitted. This new front bumper has PDC fitted.

Question 1: Does the front PDC simply "plug and go" into the existing Cambus, or will it require additional electrical parts to be installed to get them working properly Question

Question 2: And, will the ECU need reprogramming to acknowledge the installation of the front PDC Question

Thanks

EY I've just read through that whole thread and that Dunroof is a better man than I re retro install. Phew, I think I'll just leave them unconnected.

And I didn't realise that you have to switch them on/off every time you seek to use them - logical I suppose but I'm glad I never specified them when I ordered the car for her Ladyship.

I think they're a bit smarter than needing to be switched on and off. Certainly seem to be activated when the rear ones are (maybe when reverse selected?).

Wife's has them and they seem to work when needed, but I haven't driven it enough to be more exact than that yet!

Her Ladyship's FL2 has rear PDC fitted and is logically activated when you select reverse.

She does not have the centre dash control panel front PDC on/off switch installed so that's the first barrier and I don't see her having the patience to keep switching that button on and off - she'd get very irritated with that and would probably end up bashing to pieces in rage with the beeps when behind the car in front. Fronts are activated when you put it in reverse, but you can turn them on yourself if you need them.

I found this to be a bit counter intuative to begin with as I was used to BM's who has them active all the time at low speeds, however now that I'm used to them I dont mind it / quite like it Thumbs Up Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

The dash switch seems to be much misunderstood - certainly by the salesman who sold me the car. On my 2007 GS the front AND back sensors come on EITHER when you engage reverse gear OR when you flick the switch. They go off either when you exceed a certain speed (about 10mph) or when you flick the switch. Simple. Confused

I think the LR way has advantages - not least of which is that they don't beep in traffic jams, if you get a bit close to the car in front.
