Re-circulate or not to re-circulate

In this one day heat wave we seem to be having, my air con is on full blast and if yours is not your either gay or just odd. But I was wondering does anyone else have the re-circulating air on all the time? Or is it just me that finds it cooler and better??? Answer on a post card

You recycle the already cooled air, it must be better.

If you re-circulate, a fart could last forever. Twisted Evil
only good if it's your own.

Generally, I just leave it on auto and adjust the temperature dial. Unless I have something stinky in my car (pizza, fish and chips, girlfriend) and then I might turn it off and open the windows. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

My dealer told me that it will only stay on "re-circulate" for a few minutes at a time before using fresh air - something to do with keeping driver's more alert after problems recirculating the same air for too long. Not sure if this is a new (safety?) amendment to the MY11.

Depends, if you push the button it turns of after a while, but if you keep pushing it then it starts to blink. After that it stays fixed to re-circulate.

The same principle is used on passenger flights; the aircon is largely left on "recirculation" (with a minimum amout of fresh air) as this requires a lot less power to maintain the correct conditions inside the cabin. It also means that you get perfect condition to get everyone else's flu, or experience their farts several times over!

PS: Sorry Kershaw 39, I didn't see your post until after I'd posted mine.

From the manual:

Quote:
Recirculation: When selected, the air is recirculated inside the vehicle. This helps to maintain a high or low temperature, and is useful for preventing fumes form entering the vehicle (also keeps farts within vehicle, so use caution if you've eaten nachos, beans, onions et al).

A single brief press will select recirculation for four minutes. The system will then revert to fresh air intake to prevent misting. Pressing and holding the button will select recirculation until it is switched off. This state is indicated by three flashes of the tell-tale lamp in the switch.

I feel that is careless and irresponsible advice as no specific action has been recommended in the case of brussel sprouts.
