I'm with CG on this one
The only time mine have given any grief is when ice has frozen on them.
have taken her wading forwards and backwards, sometimes at speed - never an issue.

OK I have never polished the car but the youths at my local car wash have tried quite a few times - can't see how this extra wax would matter as mine has an extra layer of orange paint on the sensors. When the bumper was sprayed the sensors were in place.

The annoying thing is if mine work fine why shouldn't yours? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Orange paint has a special property of not blocking ultrasound Rolling with laughter

Once spray painted the black sensors on my silver celica and they looked fantastic - but they just didn't work - I had to scrape the paint off - and they were always a bit iffy after that. 2002 Honda VFR800

Have it happen to me too regularly but just using the off/on on the dash always resolves it for me. Think It's more like it senses something and doesn't wanna let it go until you cut power and restart.

Noticed this mostly when the car is wet but not everytime.

Not that bothered as long as I do not have to completely restart the car. Rather have them acting up then not having them at all. Tough I admit that is not acceptable for this day and age. But then if you see what crap stereos the fit in even higher range cars I'm not surprised. When it comes to electronics in a car it seems the whole industry is always 10 years behind...

It's a known fact that 'Ultrasonic' sensors have a weakness when it comes to dirt and water droplets on its sensor face, also they should be as flush as possible to the surrounding surface. (1) to stop water globules getting caught and interfering with the send & receive and (2) to stop dirt from accumulating, and normally after a wash and wipe they behave themselves.
It's only ever happened once with mine and a quick wipe of the sensor heads cured it ..................... for now. Smile

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Am now having this same fault. Been raining off and on, quite heavily, but even when it's been dry for a few hours I get the constant tone after putting it into reverse. Will try the clicking test and see if it tells me anything. I'm not getting the flashing indicator the manual says I should see if there's a fault detected. HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.
Just added side steps, replaced the yellow side lights & body coloured handle and wing mirror covers. Now for the spoiler!

Use your eyes lol, the senors dont like the rain in any car! I never use mine anyway! When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

You meant they don't park the car for you?!? Seriously?!?

I know what you're saying and I don't rely upon them but they are a feature of an expensive car and frankly should work. HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.

Aye? Can that be done from beneath the bumper without anything being removed etc? HSE, td4 - Stornoway Grey - full alpaca interior - 2011 front facelift - privacy glass.

Only had rear sensors on the FL2 but managed to get to them ok without removing anything, not sure about the front ones as the FL2 did't have them. ______________________

Until in the end you knocked his bumper off?
