Front Parking Sensors going a bit Batshat!

As per topic!

Got in the car yesterday and the front sensors just stayed on constant tone. It stopped after I turned off the car and back on again a few times and I thought it was sorted. Turns out not. Rain again today = batshit parking sensors! Rolling Eyes

Still, it's off to Lincoln LR to get sorted on Thursday. No D3s or RRS' for courtesy car tho. They actually tried to offer me a Corsa! Laughing Getting another FL2. Might be nice to get a TD4_e to see if it's as bad as I think! 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

i hope they are faulty when you take it to them, my dealer wouldn't believe me until they was faulty and the test tool showed it to be faulty Rolling Eyes

Mine was doing it again last night in the heavy rain, i'm starting to think the water runs down over the sensors as its always worse when i have waxed the car (i.e. large beads of water running off) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Dont think it is because of faulty sensors, but has to do with the design of the sensors which occasionally cant cope with rain and in our case snow Shocked

What happens when you drive through deep water (when off-roading) Question Yes you turn the sensors off, and that is what you do if it pours with rain or snows heavily Rolling Eyes so what do you do use then Question Well you could use your eyes instead Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

A friend of me has a Mercedes Convertible where the park sensor stay on if snow falls on the headlamps.
The headlamps do have sensors to keep them clean.

In the FL docs there's written somewhere that one should use too much water when washing the sensors, so heavy rain or snow seems to have the same effect. Freelander 2 SE 4Td Izmir Blue, Dog cage for Alaskan Malamute, iphone Navigon Navigator

It's not just when it IS raining though. Mine were going off when it had BEEN raining. Even after I dried the sensors. The service guy seemed pretty on side thoug. He said they'd take em out and re seal them, replacing any that had been damaged by water. 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

How queer! Mine did exactly the same yesterday but seemed to be triggered by me stalling it in reverse. I tend, when reversing down our narrow back street to park, to trickle along on tickover, not normally an issue but on this occasion I did stall. I just dipped the clutch fully and hit the starter button. The tone just stopped on then all the time until I switched off the sensors. Did the usual 'turn ignition off, turn on; still the same. I'll see how it is when it's slept for a while. Also available in Clean.

Nerver had a problem with my rear sensors until yesterday when it was really wet all day. Engage reverse and the tone stayed on continuously. I tried reversing near to my neighbours car to see if they would do anything but they just continued buzzing?

If it's not the reverse sensors at fault, it could be the reverse gear sensor as it was loud just like the short warning buzz you get when you engage reverse gear?

It's drier here today and everything is now working fine.

Very Happy

at last loads more people experiencing what i have had since day one

I don't think they have a cure for this, i have had numerous sensors replaced, dried out and the new style PDC control box (with louder beeps as the first cars were very quiet)

Still does it Rolling Eyes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Well it was in today. Got a fecking S Commercial as a courtesy car and it was bogging inside and out. All they had apparently... still. Anyhoo.. they said they checked it on the diagnostics machine and there was no fault and that because they seemed to be working fine (typical that today's been fecking sunny), there's nothing they could do. They didn't even take them out of take off the bumper to have a look.

Guess I'll have to wait until it happens again. Sad 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

same happened to me 3 or 4 times, only way they would do anything is by taking the car to them whilst it was faulty.

Mines been doing it today, so i'll be booking an appointment again Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Just adding my similar experience.
Front sensors on mine can give random/phantom/constant tones when raining or after rain. Been looked at by the dealer. Last visit resulted in a firmware update (always with the firmware) but it's done it again since.
It's annoying really because I have come to rely on them.

I had a parking sensor/radio problem yesterday in the rain. Whilst driving along listening to a CD, the Cd just stopped, with the display showing track number, time etc remaining constant. When I got home the parking sensors didn't work, no beep as I engaged reverse of beeping as I got close to another car. I restarted the engine and this cleared the faults.

Has anyone else had similar issues to these and should it be a warrenty issue?

Did anyone ever get a fix for this? My FL2 was playing up in the rain yesterday, continuous tone on reversing and no where close to a wall!! Freelander 2 SE 2007 in Stornaway Grey.

Looking for cheap roof rails and bars if anyone has any?
