iphone & ipod cradle

Hello Dector

Glad to hear your iphone works in the LR2.

Are you using Landrover's ipod cradle for the iphone or just the bluetooth?

More information please? Wink Regards Ub2

My first post about the Ipod Connectivity kit not working with the iPhone appears to be wrong.

The steering wheel controls do control the iPhone although you do get a warning from the iphone about the device not being made to work with the iPhone.

I don't have the phone kit in my SE so I don't know.

What I'm talking about is the Next and Previous track buttons.

Just plain old bluetooth. No LR's ipod connectivity kit.

Yes DJ I got that, but I still haven't got a clear idea of which iphone features work. Question

Perhaps you could provide info on how the phone calls are through the cradle Wink and if the phone mutes the audio when making/receiving a call. What is the phone quality like? Where does the microphone go or do you just use the built-in mic on the iphone?

Look forward to your response. Very Happy Regards Ub2

The iphone fits in the cradle but it isn't secured like an ipod is. I'll take some photos so you can see what I mean.

The phone automatically pauses music when it gets a call but the voice call doesn't go out via the stereo. What I do is keep the ear phones in the phone and I just put them in my ears when I get a call.

A bluetooth earpeice is my other alternative but I don't like talkin on the phone while driving so I don't do it that much.

Otherwise phone charges, music plays, skip buttons work as normal.

Is there bluetooth headphones that work with the iPhone? I looked at this and i am sure the iPhone does not support bluetooth headsets, or AD2P? (Bluetooth Streaming stereo music)

I haven't the phone yet, but would seriously look at this if they or somebody else releases the 3rd party software so it would then work with my Bluetooth snowboarding helmet Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I know this was mentioned at the beginning of the thread but just asking for an update.
Is the iphone still locked to the one provider or can it be unlocked if you take it abroad to use any provider in that country?
thanks... Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

Does anybody know if this is actually possible?

I have just read this on another forum and it sounds like i can get iPhone for £169 without contract Shocked

Quote:
Same question has been asked AND answered in this thread about ten times!

To summarise:

You can buy a 8gb iPhone from CPW, or O2 shop for £169.

You do not have to take out a contract. In fact, they will not offer you a contract as it's 'supposed' to be done in itunes.

Get it home, unbox it, feel all happy.

Go on macrumors.com and look for the FAQ/Guide on Pwage. DO NOT USE ZIPHONE!! Ziphone downgrades the bootloader. This = BAD. pwnage does NOT. This means that, a) pwnage CANNOT brick your iPhone, and, you can completely undo everything pwnage does, e.g, factory reset it so you can get warranty work done. APPLE WILL NEVER KNOW if you use pwnage. THEY WILL KNOW if you use Ziphone.

Re warranty, Apple will honour it, whether you have taken out an O2 contract or not. Firstly because they have to be law, and secondly because I doubt they care.

The costs for internet/email will be whatever your current contract is.

Hmmm, sounds like your system is faulty then !! Shocked Whistle

I have the IPod connectivity in both the FL2 and RRS and use them daily with my Iphone. Ok, as mentioned the phone is not a good fit compared to the IPod, but it does work and I have all steering wheel connectivty etc etc.

WRT calls, the song will stop and the bluetooth module will allow me to take the call through the PTI,no need for messy headsets etc. For me, the system is genius and does exactly what I want. Thumbs Up

The only thing I would add is the fact that pairing the phone for the 1st time takes some doing.....basically becuase the IPhone is v1.2 Bluetooth and the FL / RRS variants use 2.0....it will still work as it is backwards compatible (that says something to you about this advanced phone Whistle Whistle Rolling Eyes - it is crammed full of OLD technology that is plainly well packaged with a nice UI - genius move Mr Jobs). It took me 25 mins to get a firm connection, mainly due to the fact that the RRS was parked next door and was in "discover me" mode....so I kept getting conflicts. Whistle

Any problems, drop me a PM. Thumbs Up

Full feature support for F and R of track listings, Bluetooth and phonebook sync!! Thumbs Up RRS S/C HST - named Plantagenet Palliser
