If you do a bit of googling you will find loads of cases of misfueling and many so called cures.

Before we had all the winter anti wax additives and before common rail Vauxhall (I think) officially recommended 1 gallon petrol to 7 gallons diesel. This was in owners hand book. All FL2's (3) Gone

Common rail is the problem . older diesels did not like petrol, modern high pressure systems hate it. Most fuel savings from CR can soon be lost in expensive fuel filter changes. they are now telling us to fit 10 micron filters to the farm fuel point , previously 30 microns was considered ample.

12 months ago I was on limp mode when I rolled up to the pump, had a bad day and was day dreaming a little, when I looked at the green nozzle in my hand and then up at the pump which read £41.90-(30ish ltrs) Oh !! I drove the car 10 yards off the pump and called green flag who got me a quote from a local garage of £275+Vat to drain the tank. or a recovery home. I choose the later then a pal of mine came round in the morning took the fuel pipe off under the bonnet and managed to suck out 15ltrs with an electric fuel pump (split fuel tanks etc. we tried to transfer between tanks by priming the ignition but it only moves about a gob full at a time.) So made the decition to brim it with diesel and a bottle of additive and hey presto fired up and run fine and done 10k since no probs whatso ever. |
