If the new FL2 has a smaller filler tube is there a possible modification for existing FL2 or some other device?

If you do a bit of googling you will find loads of cases of misfueling and many so called cures.

The most popular (and seemingly most effective) solution is to raise the amount of diesel/petrol mix so the mix is at least 80% or more diesel, then add a healthy dose of 2sO to help with the lubrication issues.

Run this completely through completely until empty, then brim with normal diesel afterwords.

Now I can not speak from personal experience, but I do know of someone for whom this has worked on his MY10 fl2. that was months ago now and all is working well so far.  MY2014 SD4 XS

Don't know how much worse it is for a common rail, but I once brimmed my FL1 with petrol and drove it to the top of an Alpine pass (it misfired a bit) where it refused to start and I belatedly realised what was wrong. LR Assist recovered it down to the local village, where a mechanic drained the tank and filled it with diesel. Never had a problem with it (did another 20 000 or so then handed it back at the end of the lease). Embarassed

Before we had all the winter anti wax additives and before common rail Vauxhall (I think) officially recommended 1 gallon petrol to 7 gallons diesel. This was in owners hand book. All FL2's (3) Gone

FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Common rail is the problem . older diesels did not like petrol, modern high pressure systems hate it. Most fuel savings from CR can soon be lost in expensive fuel filter changes. they are now telling us to fit 10 micron filters to the farm fuel point , previously 30 microns was considered ample.

Infact due to recent changes in fuel specs I have abandoned my old steel tanks and heavily invested in a new plastic storage tank. modern fuels cannot cope with rust and condensation found in a steel tank.

apparently the answer was to add some 2T oil to the fuel but its promoters ran away when asked for scientific evidence At work

12 months ago I was on limp mode when I rolled up to the pump, had a bad day and was day dreaming a little, when I looked at the green nozzle in my hand and then up at the pump which read £41.90-(30ish ltrs) Oh Censored !! I drove the car 10 yards off the pump and called green flag who got me a quote from a local garage of £275+Vat to drain the tank. or a recovery home. I choose the later then a pal of mine came round in the morning took the fuel pipe off under the bonnet and managed to suck out 15ltrs with an electric fuel pump (split fuel tanks etc. we tried to transfer between tanks by priming the ignition but it only moves about a gob full at a time.)
So made the decition to brim it with diesel and a bottle of additive and hey presto fired up and run fine and done 10k since no probs whatso ever. Thumbs Up
