I have the new my11 model SD4 and twice now in the last month there seems to be a burning smell coming from outside. It smells almost like a brake disc has been rubbing. Its a strong smell, but it goes within a few minutes of stopping.

I get the smell of burning on a new car. I've always presumed it's wax or lubricant on the engine or exhaust buning off. |

Hi, my 2011 GS also does this intermittently. Seems to coincide with reversing a trailer where I have to slip the clutch to keep the speed down. Has become less frequent with use - had it since mid Nov and now has around 1500 miles. There have been a few other posts on here concerning "smells" so we are not alone. Hope this helps |

I also have the my11 model SD4 and have noticed the same smell on a couple of occasions; like a slipping clutch smell. Dealer mechanic confirmed its the DPF cleaning procedure working correctly. There is reference to this in the vehicle handbook. |

Have noticed this twice on mine - but only when traveling at urban speeds.
