Traction control on snow/gravel at start up???

Just noticed driving out today that the traction control was set on snow/gravel?

I adjusted it back to off, then went shopping and then restarted with it set back to snow/gravel?

Got home went in then back out and restarted and still set to snow/gravel???

Any ideas?

I did use the setting yesterday after snow fall.

help and advice appreciated.

thanks. Anyhoo off oot on me mobike.....

I believe that it is supposed to remember your last setting for 6 hours and then resets back to normal. Having said that I have recently set it for "Sand" stopped the car, turned the engine off, restarted after a short time and found it had reset to "Normal". A mind of its own. 2007 TD4 SE Manual

I'm sure I read on this forum somewhere that if the outside temperature was around 0 degrees C the car would automatically set itself to Grass/Gravel/Snow mode. Or did I dream that? Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Yep I've noticed a bit of randomness on mine in GGS ... I'm sure there is some logic to it, but it is probably some complicated algorithm that says keep on GGS when been selected for n minutes and if x=y and the wind is blowing east! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Mine did this too in the snow. After a couple of resets though it's been fine.

Same with mine earlier in the week! I've had the car over a year and it always remembered condition at engine shut down. However, about four times it started in gravel and snow even when stopped in off position and then settled down. It didn't do it a couple of weeks ago when temp was -8C. Guess it wants you to know who is really in charge.
