The strips are just metal edge protection. The problem is they rust at the ends where they have been cut, this causes the metal inside to blister and they become slack and can just fall off.

For my MY2011 Freelander first arch rubber was lost about 2013 (got new under the warranty). In the next years another ones need to be replaced. There are poor quality, metal bar inside the rubber breaks at the end and doesn't hold any more |

I think they have always been fitted as standard. Later models (ie my MY13) have a different pattern for the front nearside - the profile is as though there is an extra rubber tube fitted at the inside edge. I think this is to keep water splashes away from the air intake.

Our 59 plate FL2 (33000 miles) appears to be suffering the distorted wheel arch rubber problem (on the passenger side rear).

All that U profile edge trim seems to have a steel insert and thats what causes the problem as when its cut the bare ends are expose, wet gets in and it corrodes and eventually lifts and blisters it after a relatively short time.

I call that ' Yorkshire trim' cheaper than proper but does what it says on the tin, All you need to is cover the edge no need for the genuine fat trim ,

Yeah that's what I thought. What size trim did you get? If you can't remember I'll go measure some shortly. 2010 HSE SD4 in Santorini black
