Thanks for the advice on the lawnmowers

But since my brother decided to by a battery powered one his given me his petrol Razz works and has a B&S Engine so I'm putting the cash towards my new houses conifer hedge

It's approx 120ft and well above my head height, just had a tree surgeon round and his quoted £250 Shocked and may require a twice a year trim Shocked Shocked

So thinking doing it myself and buying a petrol hedge trimmer
http://www.worldofpower.co.uk/Garden-Machi....aspx#spec

With the articulated trimmer (+£55) it seams to look ok, and can be used around the garden with expand-it attachment

Anybody used one and is it ok? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've got McCulloch Hedge Trimmer, Chain saw, Lawn Hoover. They last fine, got them on line and Argos. If Argos take the 3 year warranty. It's worth it if they play up.

As for Lawn, a 4 stroke Flymo is perfect. They last longer than Honda. 2 stroke ones a bit iffy.

For a big hedge its worth going for a stihl pay a bit more for a proper tool , Ive had a of ryobi leaf blowers killed it Evil or Very Mad and a Mc Culluck one killed it Evil or Very Mad , mc culluck was just the same product as the ryobi just a different colour/badge

I must admit to using the above leaf blowers for very dusty farm jobs and they don't have proper air filters At work

True, but my point would be, you could buy three or four McCullochs for the price of a Sthill. The present petrol McCulloch Hedge trimmer is 3 years old and does 50 yards of 8' high Leylandi three times a year with nothing more than a spray of WD40 after and starts first time.

whatever you buy get the oil mix 100% correct or you will spend more time pulling the start string than cutting the hedge Evil or Very Mad At work

ended up buying the one in my link above, after plenty of searching etc it seemed the best deal as i got a fair few attachments, so I will be able to use it to strim around the garden, no just trim the hedge a couple of times a year

Set it up last night and powered it up with petrol and revved away for a while Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i hate gardening, but this Ryobi can have a fair few attachments put on the end

came with a hedge trim, 2x bushcutter/edgers, a leaf blower and i also bought the trimmer that can be angled to do the tops without the need of the step ladders

cheers for your advice BF Thumbs Up (and CG) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Great machine hacked away at the hedge no problem at all, had sis in law with her little electric doing the top as she was neater but a job well done, well 3/4 of a jib as we ran out of time Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Back looking for lawnmowers Big Cry

The freebie one my Brother gave me engine started surging, as if it's running out of fuel, but wasn't, tilted it up, air filter and carb high side and covered my lawn in oil as well as the air filter Evil or Very Mad

Had a look and all looks fine apart from some pipe that snapped off leaving the threaded part behind, might need a service but expecting the worse Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Bought one of these a couple of years back, not the cheapest but by far the best i've had, never liked having to mow the lawn but it really does a good job and is a pleasure to use. I thought a mower was just a mower but but it really backs up the statement "You get what you pay for"

Nothings changed for me since last year, started first pull after winter and does a great job, wished I had bought a decent one years ago it would have saved me money in the long run. Thumbs Up
