United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Good idea - I've been on a couple of these with my Defender 50th (Defender/Series 3 club) - one started at the Royal Armouries in Leeds and we drove up the War Museum place in North Yorks. Other started at the retail outlet near York and we drove to Scarborough - great days out - kids, dogs and the occasional wife ! It's good to have a place to meet like a large car park for photos and to get a coffee !

I've always fancied a convoy drive through the forests around Pickering - it sort of follows the North Yorks railway - did it once in the RR P38 (yes I know I learnt the hard way Big Cry)

We could go to the Beatrix Potter Museum Laughing Cheers

Laughing catering for all Whistle

I don't know how to find lanes that are drivable, so somebody in the know will have to look at that Wink

looking at the map, hardknott etc are all east west and nothing shouting out for a good route, but kids could be dropped at the railway and picked up at the otherside or something Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Meet at LPR - then cruise to Wiltshire (90 mins) - Across Salisbury Plain?

Probably far too 'saff for most? Lots of flat gravel tracks and some interesting things to see along the way (blown up tanks, bunkers derelict training village etc). Would need to split into groups. Very Happy

Carnoch - Arm wrestle or paper, scissors, stone? Wink

James Thumbs Up

Just depends on when for me. Lakes sound good. Don't some of the Land Rover magazines have routes?

So far we have sailsbury, the lakes, CG's, Pickering

What are people wanting, a meet and road drive or Forrest trails if there is some sort of Forrest trail that's driveable in the chosen area

I fancy the lakes, but need a local member who knows the lanes/ tracks etc to plan a route or are we just turning up at said carl park and taking it from there Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

James, whatever is your fancy? I did think simply tossing a coin for the APP fee or I'd pay cash if I lost. I am not kidding! come on, where is your sense of adventure?

Lakes for me. It's 6.5 hours as it is. I could go further, but it becomes a pain for a night. Npinks quite rightly said the venue is handy for all!

If you want something in the North of Scotland for another time, I certainly know the area, have the contacts and could get some excllent off roading if that your poison. alternatively, who fancies Deer Stalking or Salmon fishing?

Take a matress and have a kip in the back!

We could probably negotiate a good hotel deal if we block booked. Done that before, normally 50% off standard rates.

Don't have a van, Mrs. doesn't do B&B, A nice Hotel with adjoinings for the kids. Don't mind doing a Friday to Monday, so long as kids off school and it's practical re travelling distance. You know, don't want to pick kids up from school at 3pm and land in the lakes for 10pm, might suffer the next day with foul mooded kids.
