England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi,

Mainly I would like an update to to the electronics in the car . . . and more options to personalise the car similiar to you can get with a MINI; in terms of interior colour and trims.

Bluetooth needs to reconginse the phone that is in the car without having to push the button to change over to a different phone.

Decent ipod integration so that track and album details can be displayed on the head unit. Allow Dension to create a non-oem version of the ipod interface that connect to the MOST bus.

Audio information display on the the display on the centre of the dash.

It would be good if the seperate trip functions could be individually reset.

Ambient lighting for the console and arround the mirror would be great. It would be better still if it was possible to change to interior lighting colours like the MYCOLOR feature found in Fords

A ski hatch would be great for collecting larger items.

For those who have kids, the execution of the iso fix could be improved so that you don't need to poke about between the seat base a back, why not have some sockets with self returning flaps

The option on integrated child seats like in a mercedes or vw

Different engine power outputs

TomTom integration option to allow existing tomtom to be plugged in as available elsewhere

Different front seat option eg. sport and standard

Probably more thoughts later

Paul

I find in a pita when I have to select my phone again after swmbo has been out in my car.

It would be better if there was a single phone present to automatically select that and have an option to select when there is more than 1 phone present.

Would also be a good idea to have a USB port available for phone charging as all mobiles are suposed to be adopting mini usb as the charging standard

Paul;

FL3 list

I still think my 07 plate FL2 SE Auto is a near perfect vehicle for me right now. In replacing it wih a FL3, I'd like that to include:-

1. Reliable & powerful diesel / electric hybrid engine option, and of course lower CO2 emissions.

2. Better bodypaint colour range including at least a few bright colours!

3. More intuitive, built-in sat nav

4. Radio (& phone) display visible without peering down.

5. Fog lamp buttons better placed

6. Digital speedo with large font numbers

7. Longer guarantee

Most importantly, don't over-spec / over-price it!!

I haven't read all of the comments here but a couple from me....

- bolt a supercharger to that petrol engine but keep the mpg roughly the same

- better nav system / integration of multimedia components like thumb drives & A2DP etc (dual view screen like the Jag's have would be nice!)

- updated bluetooth; it works fine at the moment but could be better

- more color variations (wife's request Rolling Eyes )

- better suspension (I like the softness for Chicago's crappy roads but it does dive under hard braking)

- digital dashboard like the FFRR (well, I can hope right?)

- option to have leather / cloth combo for the seats

- I would say the ability to have a locking diff but I don't use the car off road much anyway so that's blue-sky stuff, I think it does fine without it

Why not completely combine the two and move the controls to the touch screen ?

To sum up :-
Most replies have been based on better use of sat nav screen integrating other features within it which I recon they should also use it for an updated trip computer as the present one is 10 years out of date.

Better seating, centre console & trim options which in particular which was/is one of my gripes.

Reinstate some of the trim accessories from the FL1 & ommited from the 2 - Would like to know why this is/was?

Xenon lights as standard at very least on the HSE.

Not more of an engine choice but an engine choice!!

Bigger boot though I think it is fine for the vehicle.

Do a 3 door sportier model as in FL1.

Some type of off road pack with various options.

One thing they have done right - well at least on the HSE anyway is I recon the audio system is pretty good!!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame

Recently trawled around the competition as my brother bought a 4x4 in same class, here is what i think in order of priority:

- No. 1 appeal in the 4x4 capability & pedigree, so this needs to be preserved (not necessarily improved, but at least maintained).
- Another big step forward in reliability AND/OR 5 year warranty
- Complete media / nav system with more detailed trip computer and in dash information. Either full LCD or black LED in dash displays. Seamless iphone / ipod integration.
- Another step forward in the quality & luxury of the interior, move towards the D4 again (but not that far).
- maintain prices, can't justify going more expensive as the above are mostly available elsewhere often for cheaper
- better storage / cubby holes esp for decent amount of coins / car park tickets / sunglasses etc.
- 2-3" extra boot length if doesn't compromise much else. Don't think car should get any bigger.
- more std wheel size so can get better range of tyres

I suspect the media stuff has dealt with for the D4, so will make their way down to the FL3

Engines:
- not at all convinced hybrid is a good answer to any problems with the amount of weight and complexity it adds. More cleverly managed & refined diesel engines I think are a better bet. An 'ECO' mode would be good, not that convinced by stop start but only tried it on other cars so wouldn't rule it out. Basically a step forward in economy from the same sized engines i think.
