England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

Nearly a year old and mine started off as soon as reverse gear selected.Pull forward and front ones go off too.
Had very heavy rain this week but this happens when car has been on the drive all night.Looks like this will be an ongoing problem that dealers can ignore unless you can show the fault happens on their forecourt.Eventually they dry out and thats that till next time it rains Big Cry 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

CF999, I genuinely don't believe that the dealers are ignoring the problem, I think it's more that LR don't have a fix, or maybe more to the point they do have a fix but don't want to release it because it will cost them millions in warranty payments.
I video'd my sensors on one of their good days Laughing screaming their heads off, and my local dealer has totally accepted that there is a problem (and he says he has about 15 other local customers with the same problem) but he just cannot fix it. I have new front and rear sensors, ECU (Or whatever controls them), seals around the sensors and they still are not fixed. But they were great in France this year because it didn't rain Thumbs Up

My (new to me) XS has done it a couple of times. It was originally from out of the area so the local stealer (Lookers) will not know the vehicle. As it is still under warranty until January I will call in to report the problem and see what response I get Laughing Prog rock is cool! Smile

Couldn't believe my luck. Got to the stealers today and because it had rained most of the night the fault was there as I was parking. Grabbed a tech PDQ to demonstrate the problem and it goes in in couple of weeks for fixing.

Had to smile, as I was booking mine in somebody was delivering theirs for a routine service. Asked was there anything else to be looked at "yes the parking sensors are intermittently playing up". Cool Prog rock is cool! Smile

Got 2 new sensors in front last week. Will report.
When they play up you can actually feel which sensor is working and not.
Put one finger on the sensor. Barely touching it. You can feel a slight vibration on the ones that work. FL2, TD4 HSE

I would be keen to hear from Aussie owners regarding failed or failing sensors mine like every one else fail when it rains and are mostly ok when they dry out ....

One of the stealers suggested it might be my number plate frame, what a joke ....

well...........now the rear ones are acting up. Constant beeeeeeeeep!! Going in on friday. The mechanic told me that on the rear ones they can measure and read fault codes, but not on the front ones.
Will see what they now find. I have kinda lost all hope on the park sensors. Piece of crap! FL2, TD4 HSE

What is it about the LR parking sensors and why can every other manufacturer seam to be able to make ones that work and LR can't Question

I have to say that (touch wood) mine have been OK bar one episode when the screamed at me after a particularly wet night down in Plymouth. Other than that - fine! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

I'm looking forward to phoning LR tomorrow and stating mine dont work. When i put the FR2 into reverse I get a audible beep (sec or two) and the 'P' button flashes a few times and then goes off. Nothing from the front or rear sensors. I've check the fuse and thats OK...

Since i've only just taken possession of the vehicle that still under warranty i'm hoping this wont be a hassle....yeah right!!!

Time for me to put something back into this forum.....I have a very simple cure for this well known fault.
Here's how to beat the muppets at the dealers.

Anyone interested?

First pick a warm dry day, or use a hairdryer to dry the sensors thoroughly.
Then get some Finnegan's Waxoyl (or equivalent). Brush or rub into the small gap around the sensors. Rub off excess with a cloth.
Allow to dry a little.

You're cured.

Thumbs Up

At least this seems to cure the problem when it's caused by rain or washing the car.
I personally can't take the credit for this trick...my genius father is behind it!
