Plastic 'Thing' and oil leak?

Hiya Folks
the plastic thing at the front of my motor has dropped on the passenger side ( see pic )
ive tried to locate how it is secured to the car so i can put it back but i cant find any rivets/plugs etc that are holding it on. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also there appears to be some oil running down from the grill
is this something i should worry about? where could it be coming from?
thanks in advance for any help
its very much appreciated

Looks like a trolley jack to me - I'll get my coat.
I'd say the loose bit and the oil leak might be something to do with the damage to the plastic cover for the towing eye, judging by it's condition.

The oil is probably coming from the intercooler which is behind the grill. The car has hit something low down on the nearside front which has damaged/removed the layers of plastic that normally cover the towing eye.

If you get someone inside revving it up, can you hear a 'hissing' sound from that area? Any lack of performance? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

As above. The car has impacted something low down damaging the tow eye cover and possibly other plastic components, and the intercooler has likely been damaged as as will, or it wouldn't be leaking oil.
The front bumper needs removing, so you can see the extent of the damage, and go from there. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

its finally happened!!

hello again.
soooo took the car in for its annual service and they said i needed a new battery so got one fitted.
they also finally flagged up the intercooler leaking and also said one of the injectors was 'misting slightly'
but none of it was serious so can wait. ( as id just spent £400+ on service/battery)
however since then the car is certainly lacking power, when i put my foot down to overtake the pick up is very slow! and also if i take my foot off the accelerator at around 1500rpm it makes an awful groaning sound. its done 142k so i expect things to start failing but its only since the service so im wondering if theres anything they may have loosened moved etc that may be causing the sudden fault?
is there anything i need to check before i book it in again?...oh its an Auto box aswell

Sorry its a long one and thanks for any info/advice will be greatly appreciated

Rob

If the intercooler is leaking oil it obviously has a boost leak which will have a detrimental effect on performance. The normal leak however is from a split intercooler pipe which is more cheaply fixed so worth double checking, oil can leak from a split IC hose too and will displaythe same symptoms as the IC leaking.
The towing eye cover is retained by two plastic quarter turn screws, looks like one of them has popped out or is missing. I'd just remove it completely if one screw is missing until you can get hold of a replacement. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

As mentioned before most likely turbo/intercooler hose nearside one is easy as is the front one to the throttle body the front offside one is a bumper off job unless you got hands of a midget? 2013 FL2 XS.

An injector 'misting' is obviously a small diesel leak which suggests that the injector seals are needing replaced.
I've not done this on the Freelander but it's relatively straightforward to remove the injectors and replace the rubber o rings and copper sealing washers.
Don't ignore this too long as it can lead to an inconvenient break down if it gets worse.
If one is leaking you can bet all 4 need changing. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Wow

Hey thanks guys i knew this was the place to get advice youre a great bunch.
Now next thing is replacing the hoses something i can do without removing the front bumper?
Are there any pictures of the hoses i should be checking as im not familiar with the engine compartment.
And are the injector seals easy to do?
Im not a mechanic but im willing to do it if its not too complicated.
Thanks again couldnt get by without you all

The hoses attach to either end of intercooler, intake manifold and turbo, secured with jubilee type clips. The upper one at the front of the engine goes to inlet manifold. It's easily changed and the most likely to split. The lower ones I find easier to remove the front bumper. Not a huge job.
Injector seals as I say I haven't tackled on freelander but other cars I have done. I'm sure there's a YouTube video to assist. Let us know how you get on. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
