The worst thing to do is to disconnect the battery on a running engine. It can cause all sorts of serious electrical failures.

The way to stop and auto is to block the air intake with something that can't be sucked into the engine. If its a manual, simply stalling it is the safest way.

When you say it wouldn't stop, did the ignition go off? Was the rev counter still displaying engine speed?

Not sure about the Rev counter he’s 82 so I think he panicked a bit, doesn’t the throttle body close the air to stop ?

Ah, I see.
As the engine stopped when power was removed, its suggesting that the ECM didn't get the stop engine command.

The TB plate does close at engine shutdown, but that's not the reason it stops running. Once the shutdown command is registered by the ECM, it kills the injector pulses, stopping the fuel. The TB is also closed at the same time, but that's only to help prevent engine vibration as the compression is high. Basically it starves the engine of air, meaning the cylinders have less air to compress, so it stops smoother than it would if it was open throttle.

I'm thinking that maybe the start button is playing up. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I think I’ll disagree here. Yes, removing power will stop the injectors from injecting fuel, and the engine should stop, but if there is another source of fuel, say a leaking turbo bearing, the engine may want to carry on running. The throttle body and its flap is there to remove the other component for combustion, air, more specifically oxygen. Hence, sometimes if you have a sticking throttle body butterfly or the teeth on the gears are worn and the flap doesn’t close properly and there’s a bit of oil in the cylinders, the engine might run on lumpily for a few revolutions.
However, if removing the earth terminal from the battery stopped the engine, it does point to the starter button not making contact rather than the throttle body being faulty.

In my experience, manufacturers don't fit throttle bodies to prevent runaway. They put them in for emissions and NVH reasons. Ll Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ok so new boost pipes fitted to lower inter cooler and throttle body , fun job . Took the throthh to le body off and the teeth are perfect and it was very clean where the butterfly is the area where the cogs are was full of oil and crap so clean all that out . All fitted back and codes cleared , only one code won’t clear p0113 air intake sensor ? Any ideas may fit a new one anyway. Car runs great no lights on dash so far , bloody freelander!!!

I can't see the connection between of any of the parts you replaced and the not shutting down issue.
The throttle body also needs calibration, or the gears can strip quickly.
Have you connected the intake air temperature sensor plug back up? Was it transferred over from the old TB? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I've just checked the manual. The IAT sensor is part of the MAF, so check for broken wires at the connector. Also it's worth checking the harness below the air filter housing assembly, as there was an issue where an incorrectly routed harness caused it to wear through giving odd faults.
