The worst thing to do is to disconnect the battery on a running engine. It can cause all sorts of serious electrical failures.

Not sure about the Rev counter he’s 82 so I think he panicked a bit, doesn’t the throttle body close the air to stop ? |

I think I’ll disagree here. Yes, removing power will stop the injectors from injecting fuel, and the engine should stop, but if there is another source of fuel, say a leaking turbo bearing, the engine may want to carry on running. The throttle body and its flap is there to remove the other component for combustion, air, more specifically oxygen. Hence, sometimes if you have a sticking throttle body butterfly or the teeth on the gears are worn and the flap doesn’t close properly and there’s a bit of oil in the cylinders, the engine might run on lumpily for a few revolutions.

In my experience, manufacturers don't fit throttle bodies to prevent runaway. They put them in for emissions and NVH reasons. Ll Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ok so new boost pipes fitted to lower inter cooler and throttle body , fun job . Took the throthh to le body off and the teeth are perfect and it was very clean where the butterfly is the area where the cogs are was full of oil and crap so clean all that out . All fitted back and codes cleared , only one code won’t clear p0113 air intake sensor ? Any ideas may fit a new one anyway. Car runs great no lights on dash so far , bloody freelander!!! |

I can't see the connection between of any of the parts you replaced and the not shutting down issue.

I've just checked the manual. The IAT sensor is part of the MAF, so check for broken wires at the connector. Also it's worth checking the harness below the air filter housing assembly, as there was an issue where an incorrectly routed harness caused it to wear through giving odd faults. |
