Has anyone fitted Steel wheels?

I have been thinking about fitting steel wheels.
According to, PowerfulUK, you can fit 17" Ford Kuga wheels, these are on eBay.
I am happy with 17" wheels.
I would need to re-paint in silver as I don't like black wheels.
Questions I will need answering are they going to increase the unsprang weight and are all dimensions of the wheels the same.
Any suggestions or pictures would be most welcome.

There's not much difference in unsprung weight between factory alloys and factory steel wheels, often steel wheels are slightly lighter.
Now magnesium alloys are lighter, but very few normal cars use mags these days, as the material is too exotic to make financial sense on anything but an exotic super car. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Do the Kuga steel rims have at least the same load rating as the Freelander rims. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Different size fixings?

PCD and Centre Bore are the same, offset is close enough, but it looks like they're fixed on with M12x1.5 studs, and the LR2 has 14x1.5:

vs
https://www.wheel-size.com/size/land-rover/freelander-2/2011/

Maybe there's enough clearance on the steel wheel holes, but you would want to be sure the wheel nut tapers matched and seated on the rims properly. Would be unseemly for them to undo themselves on the highway...

I would say they are stronger if off road or maybe he just like the look of them.

I like the, "Retro", look, but I would like to see a Freelander fitted with them first so I can see if I'm happy with the way they look. Also I think they will be a lot easier to keep clean. As I've said I'm happy with 17" but also what to fit, Land Rover centre caps. I'm due new tyres all round in about 5000 miles so it would be an ideal time to switch over. Not brave enough to risk until I can see the finished result on a Freelander, was hoping that, PowerfulUKLTD had some but they steered me down the Ford Kuga route.

Have you considered getting a set of factory 17" steel spare rims? These often come with new or almost new (but old) tyres, which may or may not be suitable for reuse.
However you will guarantee the wheels are designed to fit the vehicle perfectly. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

As you can see this has a full sized tyre so why should it have a speed restriction?

It’s all down to your nuts! The wheel nut for alloy wheels have a different taper than the one for steel wheels. The speed restriction is because the wheel won’t be as secure using nuts for alloys with steel wheels.

How can they supply a wheel that the nuts don't fit securely?
Can't see any manufacturers doing that, it's a mega claim just waiting to happen.
I'd say that it's because the tyre size is not identical to those fitted to the standard alloys so reduced speed recommended to prevent any difference in handling or road holding. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter

To the topic,
Maybe times have changed but, steel wheels (and tires tech as well) of yonder used to be pretty heavy and I always found them a noticeably rougher ride. Now suspension has changed so, I maybe talking out of my hat.

Sorry to disappoint you. My FL2 came with a steel rim as a spare. I acquired a fifth alloy rim and had the tyre taken off the steel rim and placed on to the alloy rim. The tyre size was exactly the same as those already fitted.
