I have been thinking about fitting steel wheels.
According to, PowerfulUK, you can fit 17" Ford Kuga wheels, these are on eBay.
I am happy with 17" wheels.
I would need to re-paint in silver as I don't like black wheels.
Questions I will need answering are they going to increase the unsprang weight and are all dimensions of the wheels the same.
Any suggestions or pictures would be most welcome.

There's not much difference in unsprung weight between factory alloys and factory steel wheels, often steel wheels are slightly lighter.
Now magnesium alloys are lighter, but very few normal cars use mags these days, as the material is too exotic to make financial sense on anything but an exotic super car. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Do the Kuga steel rims have at least the same load rating as the Freelander rims. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

PCD and Centre Bore are the same, offset is close enough, but it looks like they're fixed on with M12x1.5 studs, and the LR2 has 14x1.5:

Maybe there's enough clearance on the steel wheel holes, but you would want to be sure the wheel nut tapers matched and seated on the rims properly. Would be unseemly for them to undo themselves on the highway...

Have you considered getting a set of factory 17" steel spare rims? These often come with new or almost new (but old) tyres, which may or may not be suitable for reuse.

As you can see this has a full sized tyre so why should it have a speed restriction?

It’s all down to your nuts! The wheel nut for alloy wheels have a different taper than the one for steel wheels. The speed restriction is because the wheel won’t be as secure using nuts for alloys with steel wheels.

How can they supply a wheel that the nuts don't fit securely?
Can't see any manufacturers doing that, it's a mega claim just waiting to happen.
I'd say that it's because the tyre size is not identical to those fitted to the standard alloys so reduced speed recommended to prevent any difference in handling or road holding. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Maybe times have changed but, steel wheels (and tires tech as well) of yonder used to be pretty heavy and I always found them a noticeably rougher ride. Now suspension has changed so, I maybe talking out of my hat.
