A whining noise from the rear. (even when her indoors wasn't in the car)

I imagine it was a rear diff pinion bearing replaced, rather than the whole diff, it's a common and known issue.

just got my57 gs back after a week,new diff fitted and she,s purring again,glad i took out the extended warranty,nice to be back in the fold again.i looked over the invoice and it stated new diff and carrier and 2xhypoid oil.so happy days again. |

Just out of curiosity, was it replaced by a LR Main Dealer, using genuine LR Parts? Foraging near Gaydon.... 覧覧覧覧覧覧覧 MY13 HSE Lux SD4, Baltic Blue - current, 30,000> miles without fault MY12 HSE 2.2 SD4, Sumatra Black - gone after 10 months/43,000 fault-free miles |

The work was done by an "approved" Land Rover garage. Greenbank 4x4 Centre, who I can highly recommend.

That's not a bad price on the face of it, I would have expected a 4 figure sum, still, it will keep it going for quite some time. |

Glad you got it sorted, my pinion (?) bearing in diff was replaced a few weeks ago.

evans halshaw carried out the repair,stated pn zlr003156 hypoid oilx2 pn030852 differential&carrier,labour 」140 oil」33.52,differential and carrier」828 total sum 」1001.52,no mention of haldex oil though.hope they have done it to the book. |

Is the Hypoid oil used in the Haldex unit?
