Are my tailgate struts unusual?

Hi All,
the gas struts on the tailgate of my freelander 2 have started getting lazy and I got bonked on the head a couple of weeks back!

I ordered a couple of amazon generic ones and to my dismay the tailgate wouldn't close the last few inches because the bodies of the gas struts were too long. I sent them back and ordered from a different supplier, this time from Amazon
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09K5W...&psc=1

Same again today when I try to fit them!!!

Both sellers listed them as compatible from '06 onwards. Mine is an 07. I don't know if I have been unlucky and obtained from two bad suppliers, or if mine are in some way unusual!

I have uploaded this video, showing the issue, and comparing the ebay ones with the original ones

Maybe when I am back from work I can measure the casing of the gas strut and someone else can compare that with their own length Smile

The ones you have been sent are clearly to big. Common sense isn't very common.

I wouldn't be messing with Amazon supplied parts when there's the excellent Forum sponser Advanced Factors selling stuff like this at very reasonable prices. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I had the same issue, not sure who I ordered through but first set sent out were too long.
Replaced with no issues and I still have the first set hanging around somewhere.

Hmmm… don't think I saw those when I bought mine from SGS last week.

Bought a pair of gas struts from SGS engineering - hit my head once too often on the tail gate that now only rises to just above eye level?

£38 the pair with next day delivery, they are the equiv. of PowerfulUk’s (FL2) out of stock Stabilus Lift-O-Mat struts. (Stabilus Part no 9341XC). SGS list them as a Vauxhall Meriva part - part no SNL2348.

Why bother with Amazon fourth rate issues. I have ordered parts from UK a few times on Tuesday & there are at my door on Friday in Australia. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
