Whilst my Freelander battery is an AGM, I have used the charger on recon mode with the battery left in situ with no issues. Also on my Jag XKR lead acid and on my wife's x type, lead acid. I am in the process of installing charging points via the tow sockets ( though of course not on the XKR ! ) |

If in doubt contact CTEK themselves. I emailed them over an issue regarding EFB car batteries and got a response within 24 hrs.

Just replace the battery. A charger can't fix a battery that is at the end of its life. And yes, it needs disconnecting, as it puts spikes of energy into the battery, to try to clean the cells. It won't work though, so replace the battery, and be happy you got 8 years out of it. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
