Belgium 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Rimini Red

I had this problem for the first time yesterday at 1016 km on the clock
I got in the car, put the key fob in the slot and took a look at some papers, then tried to start : nothing
took key fob out, put it in again and started right away, tripcounters where reset
so the problem still exists even in cars produced 05/2007 Sad

Hy,

I'have had the starting issue about fifty times until now (14.000 km).

What I do now (since about a month and this seems to work) is push the clutch pedal in a few times after inserting the key and then push the button. Never let me down until now .....

Wow Ledzep! I guess you'll have built a very strong upper leg muscle (vastus lateralis). Thumbs Up No need for gym mate! Rolling with laughter

Vacation this summer is already booked (Italy Riviera dei Fiori)

Will have good use for my vastus lateralis at the swimming pool.

Hopefully my Freel2 will get us there Arrow

After one month & just over 2000 miles I have just had this problem for the first time. At least reding this forum had primed me about this.

I occasionally get the "non-start" when pressing the button, and the "traction reduced " message, and have had the trip etc. reset situation just once in 4000miles. The dealer service department rang me this morning, checking on something that I put on the Land Rover questionnaire (They got upset when asking "How could we do better?" and I wrote "Be cheaper, quicker and respond sooner!"). I asked if there were any notices or software updates to which she replied, after checking with the head technician (Don`t they employ mechanics anymore?) "Yes, there are 2 software updated and they should help with the problem" So it is booked in next Monday to be upgraded - watch this space to see if it is any improvement - or, if experience is anything to go by, to see what extra faults the new software can introduce"" - Cynical, ME!!!
They are also doing an engine oil and filter change. Call me old fashioned, but 15,000 miles from new with the same oil is just too much!
Edited to add - (Sorry, just read Defkalion`s reply in the other section, after typing the above, and it covers some of the same topic) Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Well it went in 3 days ago - came back with all the trip functions having reset (so they did something!) The starting is definitely better, with no error messages since. I only need to touch and release the button now for it to start. As an aside, has everyone noticed that the length of time you press the button for is irrevant to the starting procedure - I can have pressed and released the button before the starter motor moves. The button obviously tells a computer to start the engine.
The mpg readout is also over 40 at present ( was around 36 before) but only a relatively short mileage has been covered so far. This may change.
As for introducing gremlins - nothing so far. Very Happy
Edited to add that the mpg must have been a fluke - it has settled to around 37 now. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

I had the ecu upgrade and instrument pack installed yesterday, touch wood the parking sensors are sorted, radio hasn't frozen and starting has been OK.

So they may have sorted things at last.

Although you guys are all a friendly welcoming bunch, I have to say that in the 5 or so weeks/1500 miles I've owned my FL2, I've always felt a bit of an "outsider". That was until Sunday, when I'm proud to say I had my first ever non-start/Reduced Traction/trip computer reset. Now I'm a REAL Freelander 2 owner. Smile

Welcome to the dark side Nightfox.... Like the rest of us you must have read all the hype about how many miles the development cars were driven, the torturous conditions they were driven in and how highly developed all the systems were. Well now you live in the real world, but I’m sure whatever niggles you experience be they traction warnings, fail to start, radio freeze ups and trip resets, like the rest of us you’ll forgive the car because its so much fun to drive!!!
