My local dealer only stocks the belts, they don't stock the kits with the water pump included... |

When I did mine, I used a universal flywheel locking tool and a couple of drill bits. Physically hardest part for those without an air impact tool will be removing the crank pulley bolt. Mine seemed to be glued in right up to the last thread - undoing that manually would have given me a dead-arm! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Hi doing mine next month now I've got all the parts needed, parts costings for both sets of belts timing and serpentine inc water pump all tensioners and idler bearings together with new coolant/antifreeze and the engine locking tool needed to do the job under £197 detail costings below. I am changing both the belts and all the bearings, I know it's a bit over kill but whilst it's in bits no extra Labour needed, you have to take the serpentine belt off to do the timing belt, so just the parts.

Looking up the Gates website, to get the kit numbers, then onto eBay to find retailers, I can find a range of sellers for the timing belt kit, but not the V-belt kit. Or at least not the one on the Gates site.

The two 1700 Gates kits were coming up when I was searching on eBay and entering FL2 details. Mikey, thanks for the LR part number, which throws up plenty of 1745ish v-belts. Still can’t track down the combined Gates kit, so will just go for the separate LR000996 belt and LR003651 tensioner. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto Previously: 2010 MY FL2 TD4e GS - Now gone at 199,500 miles, about 135,000 of them mine. ‘93 Defender 110 200TDi CSW ‘87 Defender 90 4 cyl Petrol ‘83 110 CSW V8 - best ever! Range Rover 2-door V8 (not sure of year - 4-speed box and vacuum diff switch) Series III SWB Diesel |
