I've had a closer look. It looks like the grey tube is held in by a large spring. Unfortunately to push the grey tube out far enough to line it up with the slots on the mount I'd need to be able to push the tube from the back. Looks like I have to dismantle the whole wing mirror which I believe is a non-servicable part. |

The tube shown in the top of this thread appears too short to accept a spring and push nut. In addition, I don't see the broken spring or nut in the cavity. Anyone have a picture of the spring and nut for this? Below is an image from a Chevrolet wing mirror. Does the Land Rover spring and nut look like this? Anyone take apart the mirror to fix this? Other than buying a new mirror assembly, any ideas to fix this?

I believe that it was originally for an outside temperature sensor. My current DS has one on the driver side with a sensor attached (it looks like a little nub of plastic - see attached.

Thanks. Indeed I found that temperature sensor on the driver's side wing mirror. I never noticed it before. My LR is LHD. Maybe the same mirrors are used for RHD and the temperature sensor is always on the driver's side. Good manufacturer engineering. |

How do I remove the top of the mirror for service? I removed the mirror glass but did not see any fasteners. Same question for the bottom of the assembly where the temperature sensor is located. |

Try the Powerful Uk website they do a number of mirror surround upgrades and they always have videos to show how to fit so there maybe something there that would help, they also have a large number of videos on Facebook.
