I believe that loud mouthed ranters, like Scotty and now this new foul mouthed one from Australia, who are making a living from shouting out popularist and unbalanced nonsense, like this, need to be stood up to! |

You’re not taking this fool seriously, are you?! Sounder advice would simply be to avoid transverse engined, Ingenium equipped, diesel cars if you’re planning on driving a lot of stop start journeys in town if you want to preserve the laughably long service intervals! Well, to be honest I thought that long before this diatribe from JC. SWMBO is on her third FL2, having had four FL1s and 3 Discoverys before those. All the Freelanders have been very reliable (except first FL1 which had the IRD replaced under warranty) and cheap to run once out of main dealer servicing - so we are happy to keep the current one for as long as possible. Unfortunately nothing in the current JLR range appeals to us for various reasons (cost/reliability etc). So it is likely our next 4x4 will not be from JLR unless things change. I’d agree, LR haven’t made it easy for us to buy again. I’ve switched models as the good stuff has gradually been phased out and I’m now going to run the Fatty into the ground, as there’s no where else to go now

But its not just this guy's view, its fact that these cars are flawed, Landrover knows about it, dealers know about it and all they are begrudgingly doing is changing the oil as a goodwill gesture. They need to sort out the problem or admit your £50k new car needs serviced every 10k miles. Its ok for those who have a new one on a PCP and warranty, all they are faced with is the inconvenience of having to get it serviced more often. I feel sorry for the subsequent owners and the problems they may be facing down the line as the oil dilution issue results in engine failures. My wife would love to change her Tiguan for an Evoque or a Disco Sport but I really cant see us doing so given the issues LR have with their Ingenium engines. I personally found the guy entertaining!
