Heated Windscreen Connection

Wondering if anyone can help, my 2008 XS has the internal dash control buttons for a heated front windscreen yet the current windscreen (with crack) is not the heated variety. If I get it replaced, I does anyone know of the connection for the heating element is present.

Thanks in advance

Does the dash show 'Heated Front Screen' ..... or ..... heated front DE-MIST ????

I suspect the latter.

For heated screen you should have a switch like the middle one of the right hand three. Between the centre and right hand dials.

Them controls are for the facelifted model. Not sure if the layout is the same for MY08 cars.

Easy way to check is open the bonnet and look for an electrical connector near the bulk head on each side you need to have these if you can fit a heated windscreen. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Tell me if I am wrong .......

I believe the facelift ones to look like this ..

Whilst the switch/dial positions look the same ...... the switches don't have the 'finger rest' at the base of the switch.

???????????????

Either way the switch we are looking for is in the same position. Thumbs Up

Heated screens cost an arm and a leg so its not going to be a cheap conversion unless you find someone with old stock to move on. Was my only upgrade I specified from new (Winter Pack). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

im pretty sure that a 2008 XS spec came with a heated windscreen as standard.

it may that the windscreen has been replaced in the past for a cheaper non heated one, rather than someone replacing the dials.

the connectors are, I believe, under the plastic scuttle at the base of the windscreen on the passenger side.

The OP mentioned that the screen was cracked, so it would be a good time to get it replaced with the correct screen.

Did a check and some XS did ..... and some didn't.

We must wait for OP to come back to us before surmising.

^^^ agreed

however seems pretty daft if he does have the proper heated windscreen button but no heated windscreen, in which case he should get the screen replaced with a proper one as its cracked anyway.

if he only has the prog button and the rear window heater buttons then plain glass replacement it is.

Maybe previous owner was selling the car and they got the screen replaced so wasn’t bothered! Or they were foolish enough and did not realise new screen wasn’t heated if they got it replaced in summer. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I have a 2008 XS and it doesn't have heated screen nor the button on the dash, so I guess it was an optional extra?

My 2007 SE has the button in the same place as the pictures. Mine was not working. The garage I bought it from had it replaced under their guarantee scheme. £240 inc vat fitted, had it done just in time for this cold weather & works a treat.

I watched them put it in & as already stated the connectors were to the left & right of the windscreen under the plastic cover under the windscreen.
