Thanks all, I think RogB has hit the nail on the head, I think the wrong screen has been put on the car previously. I do have the heated front windscreen dial on the dash, which made me think it was done either in error as its not the original screen or as cheap fix alternative.

As it's cracked it's going via Insurance so will see if they will fit a heated windscreen like it should have...watch this space!

I would not mention that detail to the insurance companies, just do a deal and send in the correct bill for the correct job.
