As above for you heating experts. Our one has just about had it now and is 26 years old so I'm not spending any more on it.

It's a potterton profile 60 and it's a heat only boiler. Absolutely everything in the system has recently been replaced/modernised/updated so just looking for a like for like replacement. The fitter that did work on the rest of the system a few months ago (converting to a sealed system, unvented hot water tank, power flush, new zone valves, digital programmer and thermostat) said at the time that when the 60,000 BTU boiler needed replacing, we could get away with a smaller one as they are much more efficient these days. Is that right? What would you recommend and why? Presumably I'd need a magnetic filter fitting too? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Can't go wrong with a Worcester Bosch. Not the cheapest but the best.

Just picked up question regarding boiler size.
Theoretically when changing from a conventional boiler to a condensing boiler you should put a slightly smaller boiler in. Reason being the boiler will only condence i.e. work at peak efficiency when working at maximum rate. Once it modulates down it no longer condenses. Therefore a boiler sized at 80 percent of the total house requirement would be sufficient.
The down side is that this leaves no room for expanding the system.
Personally I would go for like for like sizing.In your case 18kw. But that's just me  Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

Recently had an ATAG boiler fitted, way quieter than Worcester and full of metal fittings, not a plastic one in site. Same guarantee as the Worcester offering, worth a look.

Is that a new boiler or replacing an old boiler. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Ideal Logic every time

Don't know much about the Logic but Carodon which is the parent company of Ideal Standard almost went bust due to the failure of the Ideal Isar and Icos. They had to pay a huge amount of compensation to customers and installers due to flooding issues etc.
Could be that they have learned a lesson and the Logic is a superior boiler. I haven't touched an Ideal boiler since the Isar.

i spoke with my plumber at work regard ATAG, he had fitted one previously, problem was when a part was needed, non in UK and had to wait 4 weeks for it to be shipped over, disgruntled customer etc
